1991 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo. Powerful, V6 3.0L turbocharged engine, extremely fast. Salvage title due to solo spinout causing suspension damage when vehicle came to rest on curb. Rear subframe was replaced as well as front A-arms, and ADR Wheels were purchased as replacements (18"). Body has minor dings on driver and passanger door and supanels, Front airdam is cracked from parking lot curb impacts. Seat are leather in soft condition with one tear in driver seat and a seam separating. Water pump has started leaking and squeaking so needs replacement.  Torque converter has given up on a replacement transmission put in last year, so that needs replacing now. Aftermarket additions include:
  • ADR Wheels 18"
  • 40 series Continental ContiSportContact 2 tires
  • Godspeed suspension components
  • Tein Springs (lowering 1.5")
  • KYB Struts
  • Sony Stereo head unit (tied into Bose amps)
  • Krunch 1000W subwoofer amp
  • Custom fitted Sub woofer enclosure
  • Kicker CVR 10" Dual coil CompVR Subwolfer
  • Silicon Hoses Z1
  • drilled and slotted brake disks all around, with ceramic pads
Car has 147K miles, with JDR engine (35,000 miles) put in 2 years ago (at the 144,000 mile point when head gasket went on original engine). Replaced wire harness at engine replacement time, also timing belt and water pump, fuel injectors, and replaced hoses with Z1 Silicone hoses.  Car has been great, looks fantastic, but is needing some more attention and repair that I just don't have the time or money to put in. So here is your chance to get a clean California car, no rust issues, never saw road salt, and make it great.  Clear coat on rear bumper is failing as seen in the pics and it could use a new paint job when the parking lot dime sized dings are removed.  T-tops are in great condition, no cracks or crazing and the storage bag and inserts are still with the car. Interior is good with the minor leather issues (a tear and seam) mentioned above.  The new aftermarket suspension parts make it a race car drive but can be adjusted for softer feel if desired and the subframe replacement left everything straight.

Nissan's Le Mans-bound ZEOD RC electric racecar nearing completion [w/video]

Sun, 01 Sep 2013

Nissan is working away on its ZEOD RC (Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car) which is still on pace for a Le Mans arrival in 2014. As of right now, the DeltaWing-shaped car's carbon-fiber tub and chassis have been completed. The next step will be installing the twin electric motors and fitting the seat of driver and GT Academy winner Lucas Ordóñez. If the current schedule sticks, the zero-emissions racer will hit a UK track for test laps in September.
But while those initial shakedown laps will be under full electric power, it's unclear whether the setup fielded in the UK will survive until Le Mans. Nissan itself says that it will be testing a number of "electrified" drivetrains ahead of the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is a significant departure from race car design - usually, the teams know what's powering their car before they start building it.
"Just developing a single powertrain option in only 12 months would be a mammoth task but we're looking to carefully examine a number of options to ascertain which will be best suited for Le Mans," said Darren Cox, Nissan's global motorsport director. Take a look below for a video and press release from Nissan documenting the ZEOD RC's build process.

Updated Nissan Micra gets fresh look, more tech and 'New' name

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

A few months ago, Nissan gave the Micra (which is not for US consumption) a substantial styling update that included new front and rear fascias, and stuffed more technology into the interior, such as USB ports and auxiliary inputs for audio and a new media touchscreen. Though it's still based on the same fourth-generation architecture, Nissan now calls it the New Micra.
Overall the New Micra - also known as March in some markets - looks similar to but more taut than the vehicle that launched in late 2010, thanks to more angular headlights, a new bumper, a sculpted hood and a revised grille with the Nissan logo sitting inside a chrome V, which establishes a stronger link to Nissan's "corporate look." The rear end receives less-drastic changes, such as a new bumper, LED taillamps and a new infill panel at the bottom of the tailgate.
For all of the details on Nissan's five-door city car, take a look at the press release below, and be sure to check out our live gallery from Frankfurt.

Nissan NV200 Taxi

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

"You're a long way from home!"
When I signed up to drive a pre-production version of the Nissan NV200 Taxi, I expected to have a higher-than-normal level of interaction with the public at large. However, while I was hoping for unsuspecting Ann Arborites to perhaps hail me down, or maybe even get a hop-in when stopped at an intersection, I didn't really think I'd be hassled in parking lots so much. And yet, almost as if all of the Dad-Joke energy in the universe was drawn to my tall, yellow ride, seemingly everywhere I parked I heard some iteration of the phrase above.
Har har, guys.
