I recently purchased this vehicle on Ebay and had it shipped to me from Jacksonville Florida. I discovered tha it is in need of and requires more work and expense that I am willing to expend at this time. My loss is your gain. I you are looking for a project convertible this is a good candidate.
New tires, recent brakes, tune up, plugs and wires. Transmission serviced - no defects noted. Shifts smoothly. Differential oil drained and refilled with synthetic. Oil change within the last 200 miles. Runs and drives very well.
I am being as detailed as possible about the defects I observe, especially so after the Ebayer who sold me this vehicle left out so many of the important negative factors.
Needs: A new top and rear window. The driver's side rear window does not operate. Cruse not functioning. A/C not working. My repair shop found it will not pass SMOG - it is classified as a gross polluter. Probably needs a new Catalytic converter and oxygen sensor to start.
The previous owner described the rust in his Ebay listing as minor. The rust runs along the entire top of the sheet metal above the windshield. There does does not appear to be any top frame damage. or weakness. The paint is fair to good for most of the vehicle, with some extensive clear coat damage at the front bumper.
The door panels are coming apart where the fabric meets the plastic frame. The cloth seats are ok, with no wear spots or holes, except for the usual wear at the outside edge of the driver's seat .
The driver's side carpet is worn through.
The rear window switches are missing the plastic covers. The ash tray is missing. The rear trunk litd gas supports are shot.
This vehicle needs extensive repairs to meet California SMOG requirements. I am unwilling to go to this expense. If you intend to register this Nissan in California I will require a release of liability and hold harmless agreement.
This convertible runs so well it is a shame to run it to the salvage yard.
If you are interested in a project car please bid. I am told this Nissan would be a good candidate for repowering with a Honda engine.

Mercedes and Infiniti confirm joint production in Mexico [w/video]
Mon, 30 Jun 2014It's official, folks: After initial reports last week indicated that Mercedes-Benz was preparing to begin assembly at the Nissan plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, the two parent companies have announced just that. Only instead of using the existing Nissan plant at the site (in operation since 1992), Daimler and the Renault-Nissan Alliance have announced a joint venture to build a new one alongside it.
The latest stage in the growing French-German-Japanese collaboration is part of a new collaboration that will see Infiniti and Mercedes jointly develop and build a line of compact premium vehicles, with the first Infiniti models set to roll off the assembly line in 2017 and the first Benzes to follow a year later. Neither party announced exactly which models that would encompass, but Mercedes already has a robust line of small vehicles (including the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA), and Infiniti has long been toying with the idea of slotting in something smaller below the Q50.
The billion-euro project, split evenly between the two industrial giants, is set to create 5,700 new jobs in Mexico. In addition to the Aguascalientes project, Infiniti and Mercedes are also undertaking joint production of four-cylinder engines (initially for the C-Class and Q50) in Decherd, Tennessee, from which they will be exported around the world. By the time the new factory in Mexico reaches full capacity in 2021, it will have the capability to produce 300,000 vehicles annually. That's on top of the 850,000 vehicles the existing facility is capable of handling.
Nissan's Ghosn called out by Deltawing's Panoz in print ad
Wed, 25 Jun 2014When the Nissan ZEOD RC limped to the side of the Circuit de la Sarthe a mere five laps into this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, we imagine that a certain American motorsports figure at least smirked a little. Don Panoz's ongoing feud with Nissan probably means he wasn't sorry to see the arrow-shaped racecar's poor showing, and now he's stepping up his campaign against his former racing partner.
For those who need a refresher, back in 2012, Panoz and Nissan teamed up to field the DeltaWing, an innovative, wedge-shaped racer, as the first entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans' experimental Garage 56 concept. The car rapidly became a fan favorite. The Panoz/Nissan alliance didn't last, though, and before long, the DeltaWing's designer was getting a paycheck from Nissan and the ZEOD RC racer arrived. Shortly after that, Panoz began mulling over a lawsuit alleging intellectual property infringement. The American motorsports icon would eventually pull the trigger on a suit back in December of 2013.
Panoz's latest move in the ongoing feud involves an open letter in both The Nashville Tennessean, the paper that serves Nissan's US headquarters, and trade paper Automotive News. The letter calls out Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn directly, and points out some of the similarities between the DeltaWing and the ZEOD RC, going so far as to quote the original car's designer, Ben Bowlby.
Nissan reveals new Qashqai crossover for Europe
Fri, 08 Nov 2013Between the Juke, Rogue, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder and Armada, Nissan offers a wide variety of crossovers and SUVs in this market. And that's not even counting the trucks, vans and Infiniti crossovers. But in the European market, it all comes down the Qashqai. Not that Nissan doesn't offer other crossovers in Europe, it's just that the Qashqai has, since its introduction in 2007, accounted for the lion's share, with over two million sold globally (of which 1.5 million were in Europe). And now, after teasing it repeatedly, Nissan has introduced the all-new model.
Larger, sleeker, more advanced, more comfortable and more environmentally friendly than the model it replaces, the new Qashqai is designed in Europe, for Europe, and hits the market at the start of the new year. It's the first European model to be based on Renault-Nissan's new Common Alliance Platform that will eventually encompass three Nissan models and 11 Renaults built in locations around the world.
An array of gasoline and diesel engines, ranging from 110 to 150 horsepower, will be available in two- or four-wheel drive configurations, with either a six-speed manual or the type of continuously variable transmission which Nissan champions.
