1988 Mitsubishi Starion Esi-r Not Chrysler Conquest Tsi, All Stock Unmolested on 2040-cars
Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States
The Mitsubishi Starion is a two-door, turbocharged four-cylinder rear-wheel drive four-seat sports car that was in production from 1982 to 1989. It was also marketed in North America as the Conquest under the Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth names; both the Starion and Conquest came to an end in 1989. Mitsubishi's entry in the lucrative Japanese grand tourer class in the 1980s, the Starion is considered to be one of the originators of the modern Japanese turbocharged performance automobile genre, and the first to use electronic fuel injection Up for auction is my 1988 Mitsubishi Starion. I lost my free storage facility and I don't have room to fit this in my garage. I don't want to sell but if I don't it will just rot outside and go to waste. I would rather see it used and cared for as it should be. I purchased it a few years ago due to the fact I had free 24hr access to a climate controlled storage facility. I only drove it a handful of times. My plan was to just hold on to it until I built a big enough garage to keep it at my house. That never happened and now it has to go. Everything is stock and unmolested. The smoked fog light covers are the only change and I have the original white bezels. Body is rust free and interior is almost new. Minor scuffing on driver side bolster. e-mail me and I can send more detailed pictures of the interior, under door, etc... Rims are in perfect condition, no curb rash. Super clean and rare to find in this good condition. I have the owners manual and clean title in hand. Drives good and electrical system is all functional. Now the bad, keep in mind this is a 26 year old car so if you are buying this for a daily driver then some TLC will be needed. Since removing from storage it stumbles upon acceleration. The speedometer is no longer working and the shift from park-reverse-drive, etc are ok but it is sloppy (have to shift a little beyond the P-R-D-2-1 to get it to engage) Im am selling it as-is. If it doesn't sell then maybe I will take to a shop to get it all sorted out. Ask questions and if you want to check it out in person feel free to e-mail me. Car is located in Elk Grove Village, Il. 60007 I also have the car listed for sale locally so I have the right to remove this auction if needed. |

Say Hello to the Kitty edition Mitsubishi Mirage
Wed, 30 Oct 2013Japan is the country that gave us the GT-R, the LFA and the STI. But it's also the home of Hello Kitty. We try our best to ignore the commonality, but now Mitsubishi is putting it right in our faces with the new Hello Kitty edition Mirage.
Decked out in pink, the special Mirage arrives on the occasion of the character's 40th anniversary. It comes decked out with Hello Kitty decals on the outside, special hubcaps and unique upholstery. It's even got a Hello Kitty pillow inside, for crying out loud.
Fortunately, only 400 examples will be made, hopefully only for domestic consumption, wearing a sticker price of 116,970 yen (equivalent to about $12k). Now we wish we could say this was a first, but sadly it's not - not even for Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi Concept G4 leaves us feeling blue
Sat, 20 Apr 2013To say we were unimpressed by the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage that debuted in New York earlier this year would be one heck of an understatement. So pardon us for not oohing and aahing over the Concept G4 that we're seeing for the first time here in Shanghai. It is, basically, a Mirage sedan. Try to contain your excitement.
Mitsubishi states that it intends to roll out the production version of the G4 Concept globally, powered by a 1.2-liter MIVEC engine mated to a continuously variable transmission that should at least be good for some substantial fuel economy gains. The Mirage, after all, is rated at 37/44 miles per gallon city/highway. We're also told that the car will be very lightweight, and that this should aid in making this thing not drive like a total dud.
We'll wait and see how the relatively sharp lines of the concept transfer to production form, but given that we already know what the Mirage looks like, we have a pretty good feeling that we'll be just as underwhelmed the second time around. Have a look below for the press blast.
Mitsubishi exec says Evo 'will be replaced in spirit' by high-po hybrid SUV
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Stop us if you've heard this one: According to Autocar, the current generation will be the last Mitsubishi Evolution we will ever see.
That, while unfortunate for driving enthusiasts, is a reality we've had plenty of time to digest. The days of wanton fuel burning for the sake of speed and power will soon come to an end. But that doesn't mean the days of performance have to die, too. "Green is still fun to drive," said Mitsubishi UK boss Lance Bradley in a conversation with Autocar. "It's a challenge to make it fun, but not a particularly difficult one. Electric vehicle performance is very good."
So, should we expect a new hybrid sedan to take up the mantle left by the Evo? Not so much. The British magazine quotes Kanenori Okamoto of Mitsubishi as saying, "It will be replaced in spirit by an SUV with high performance," which will apparently incorporate lessons learned in the automaker's efforts at Pikes Peak. The Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III, which handily broke the EV record at the famed mountain course, will donate much of its high-performance, zero-emissions technology to the project, including its Super All Wheel Control four-wheel-drive system.
