Time to sell my Beach Truck. I've poured a lot of sweat and money into my baby here and I know I'll never get anything close to what I spent on it, but I must sell it. For those of you who don't know these trucks amazing reputation, well were do I start. These trucks are reliable, go to anywhere vehicles. They have literally traveled the planet and those whole love them will tell you. They are Rock Crawlers, Mud Swampers, Desert travelers, great Hunting Trucks, you name it. These are tough trucks that go anywhere. About mine, well pictures says a thousand words. So may upgrades on this truck:

Tires: LT255/85R16 BFGoodrich 3 ply Mud Terrain T/A

Lift: Shackle w/Poly bushing kit and T-bar crank

Bumpers: Custom Made front and rear bumpers with shackles in the front. Both powder coated.

Paint & Body: Painted 2 years ago. Complete restoration inside and outside. All the rubber on the truck was removed and truck painted. New front are rear window seals installed.

Engine: G54B 2.6L engine rebuilt with only approx. 10,000 miles on it. All of the accessories such as brackets, pans, and covers, etc. have been powder coated. Ceramic Coated Headers were installed with stainless exhaust all the way back. Dual electric fans were added and electric fuel pump and Weber Carburetor. The truck has all of the parts to make the A/C blow but does require charging. A/C does not work.

Interior: Vinyl Carpet Kit was installed in the  front section and Herculined in the back section. The interior flooring can be hosed off. I have the back seat but I never use it. I will include. The bucket seats do have some tears but for a 27 year old truck, they are really not that bad.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

Angry dad smashes son's Mitsubishi with Xbox

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

It's normal for parents to get frustrated with their kids sometimes. Moms and dads have high hopes for the success of their brood, and when the youngsters let them down, it hurts. That's not an excuse to be destructive, though. Especially not to the point of destroying a Mitsubishi Montero Sport with an Xbox 360 like in this video.
The clip claims to be about a dad upset that his kid doesn't have a job and stays home playing video games. The guy takes his anger out not just on the console but also his son's car. The Mitsubishi definitely takes its fair share of the punishment here even after the Xbox is broken.
If this were real, it would be a pretty horrifying fight to watch. But while we can't be entirely certain, we're almost positive that this argument is completely staged for a number of reasons. The major one is that the same uploader also has videos with millions of total views of the same "Psycho Dad" dropping an Xbox in a pool, running over games with a lawn mower and taking an axe to a laptop. Furthermore, just looking at the clip itself, people don't generally wait for the other person to stop talking when yelling at each other. It also seems a bit suspicious that the kid directly speaks to the audience at one point.

Even Consumer Reports is savaging the Mitsubishi Mirage

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

When we reviewed the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage a few months ago, we absolutely hated it. Our conclusion was that if you needed a car in this segment to either pay a few hundred dollars more for a Chevy Spark or spend less for an entry-level Nissan Versa. Basically, avoid this Mitsubishi at all costs. It turns out that we weren't the only ones who despised it. Consumer Reports can often find something positive about just about any vehicle, but even the usually gentle publication struggles to find compliments when it comes to the Mirage.
It's most serious gripe concerns the model's handling. CR describes the way that the Mirage wallows around turns with tons of body lean even at low speeds as "scary." A little car with a curb weight of 2,051 pounds just shouldn't corner this poorly.
While Consumer Reports definitely has no love when it comes to the 2014 Mirage, finding something to dislike about practically every aspect of the vehicle from its powertrain to the interior, the reviewers do end up digging out one positive aspect. You'll have to scroll down and watch the video to find out what it is.
