2003 Mercury Marauder 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Metamora, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is my 2003 Mercury Marauder. Very nice car. Rust free, very sharp. Black on black of course. Runs excellent. 148,000 miles. Body in good condition, interior great condition, however in drivers seat there is a small tear, see pic. Normal road grind chips, some roof chipping. Adult driven, all long road miles to and from work each day past year and a half ( 650 miles a week ). Daily driver, always garaged. Took to my mechanic, recently complete tune up. Selling because I need something that gets better gas mileage. Everything works correctly, blows ice cold air, hot heat when needed. recently rebuilt climate control system. Air bag light recently started coming on and staying on. All stock, except for 5% tinted windows all the way around. Nice JVC stereo system. Good Michelin tires. I've always pampered this car and serviced anything that needed taken care of in a prompt manner. Nice car, drives straight as an arrow, you'll like it. Priced to sell. Recently listed locally, reserve right to end auction early. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. Can help with shipping if needed. Good luck bidding! |

Translogic drives wood-burning Mercury Beaver XR-7
Sun, 31 Jul 2011You read the title right, we're talking about the Mercury Beaver XR-7. No, Mercury never officially built a car called the beaver. This is the brainchild of upstate New Yorker Chip Beam, who owns and operates Beaver Energy, LLC. It runs on gases created by wood pellets fermented in a 2,400-degree furnace and fed to a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter V8.
By all accounts, it gets down the road just fine, and has pretty close to full power. The best part is, you can grow the fuel yourself and avoid patronizing big oil, if that's your thing. The only drawback that we can see to the Mercury Beaver XR-7 is the PVC pipe jungle occupying the space that would be the trunk under normal circumstances.
Still, if you're willing to smell like a mountain man and look like a bad Back to the Future knockoff, this ride is right up your alley. Click past the jump to see Translogic's take on this modified Merc.
NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!
