1979 Mercedes Benz 450SL
Condition: Normal Wear & Tear. Not a Show Car. It is a Driver. Small amount of rust around rear wheels (where they all show rust) - less than most. Paint is worn - but is serviceable. Small crease on Driver Side quarter panel - between rear wheel well & door - not deep though. Pin Stripes need to be replaced. No Engine, Transmission, or any other Leaks. Engine Idle is a little high - but that can be adjusted. Recent oil change & Engine Service. Tires about half worn. Wheels are in good shape. Floors Solid. Exhaust is Good. Brakes are Good. No rust under Hood or in Trunk. No Rust on (American) Bumpers. All Chrome & Badging is on the car. Lights, Wipers ... everything works. This car is lots of fun. Car always turns heads. Wife hates that we have to sell it. We were going to keep it as we inherited this car from her Aunt. Problem is we do not have room for the additional car in our driveway! We cruise up & down the coast here in Florida - top down - sunshine & fresh air. Gonna miss that. Especially fun at night! We have Antique Plates on it - costs $246 / year for car insurance. Car needs nothing for you to jump in & start having fun. Of course there are things that can be improved & messed around with to make it even better. It is a great car for someone to fiddle with. I just don't have the time or space. It was appraised to be worth at least $7300. Next Mercedes S-Class stretching into this 600 Pullman limo
Fri, 15 Mar 2013To the concern of nobody in particular, Mercedes-Benz will not be re-upping its Maybach line of ultra-luxury limousines. No, instead the German automaker will be stretching its already roomy S-Class, to make this upcoming 600 Pullman version of the decked-out beast.
The car in our new gallery of spy shots is sporting beefy B-pillars and a massive set of rear doors that should allow perfectly graceful ingress and egress from what is likely to be a palatial rear space. (In one photo we can even see a long-wheelbase S-Class in line with the new Pullman, handily exhibiting the size of the new variant.) The exterior modifications are otherwise obscured, though we can guess at revised front and rear fascia and lighting elements, based on both end being heavily taped for these test runs.
It's a good bet that the Pullman will make use of M-B's twin-turbocharged V12 engine, though sources indicate that a hybrid version might eventually be in the offing, as well.
Maybach officially discontinues all models for 2013
Tue, 14 Aug 2012The word "Maybach" has joined the long list of synonyms for the word "kaput." Mercedes-Benz released the price list for the 2013 models of its super-luxury sedans, with the price column simply stating "Discontinued" for each one of them.
The 2012 models, should there be any left for 11th-hour buyers, maintain the increased MSRPs that Daimler slapped on them late last year after it was known the brand would be terminated next year. But you might still be able to wrangle that $100,000 rebate if you ask nicely, or in Russian, or have Rick Ross ask for you.
It shouldn't be too long before we see the ultimate version of the next generation S-Class, the S600 Pullman, that will replace Maybach. Intriguingly, it's said the Pullman will be offered with every S-Class engine, even the four-cylinder diesel.
