Beautiful example of a well cared for 1990 420 SEL. This car was purchased by my grandfather, shipped from Germany, and besides selling it to a friend for a couple of years (I purchased it back) it has been in my family the entire time. Car has been meticulously maintained, and I have all service records. I know these cars very well as it has been my daily driver for a long time, and I can say with certainty that this is one of the best looking 420s I have seen, and it is definitely in better mechanical condition. These cars need to be driven, and I have been doing exactly that in addition to servicing it with the best Mercedes mechanic in North Carolina. You are going to be ensured that it is in great mechanical shape. Since 2009 I have spent $8400 on the car (have spreadsheet). The front end has been redone, the brakes are good to go, and it has new shocks. There are no more than 267670 miles on the chassis, and a new engine with 125000 miles (I bought a salvage car) was put in as well as a new transmission at 224,226. The odometer stopped working in January (have receipts to show this, there are 263670 miles on the odometer) but the oil has been changed every 3 months since. I have not driven the car more than 3000 miles since January. There is a lot of life left in this machine, and it will give someone years of pleasure and safe travel. Michelins on the car are good. Leather interior, working sunroof, all windows working well. For a car this age the seats and interior are in fantastic condition, as you can see. There are absolutely no tears on the roof of the interior. There are some slight cracks in the plastic speaker covers in the rear from sun exposure (the cover of the 3rd brake light has been replaced). Europe getting special Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1
Mon, 11 Feb 2013Last week when we saw the leaked ordering guide for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, one particular image caught our eye showing the interior of the new sedan with a neon yellow stripe on the seats and yellow stitching throughout the cabin. As it turns out, this will be part of a limited-edition model called the Edition 1 about which Mercedes-Benz just released some information.
Usually, automakers wait until later in a vehicle's life to introduce special models like this, but the Edition 1 will be available right out of the gate for the first 12 months the CLA-Class is on sale. The 2014 CLA-Class Edition 1 includes the more aggressive Sport package adding AMG-style fascias and wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights and a lowered suspension; it will be offered only in five colors - unfortunately, Northern Lights Purple is not one of them. In addition to the bright yellow cabin accents, the Edition 1 will get sport seats wrapped in leather and microfiber, a sporty, flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and real aluminum trim on the instrument panel.
With no mention of the US, we're only left to imagine that this car will not be arriving on our shores, but customers in Europe will definitely be able to enjoy the mean styling and funky interior with prices ranging from 35,402 euros up to 43,940 euros.
Mercedes-Benz intros long-wheelbase E-Class for China
Thu, 25 Apr 2013Long-wheelbase sedans are a pretty hot commodity in China, and to keep up with the competition, Mercedes-Benz has introduced an extended version of the 2014 E-Class sedan at the Shanghai Motor Show. Audi, BMW, Volvo and even Cadillac offer extended versions of sedans specific to the Chinese market, and now the E-Class L, shown off in E400L guise, will give luxury sedan buyers in China yet another option.
Compared to the standard 2014 E-Class sedan, the new China-spec E-Class L has been stretched by 5.5 inches - all of which goes to the rear-seat passengers. According to an article on China View from earlier in the year, the market for chauffeur-driven cars is growing in the Asian nation, so automakers need long-wheelbase models like the E-Class L in order to fully compete. As for what powers this stretched E-Class, it's available in three models: the diesel E260L, the V6-powered E300L and the E400 Hybrid.
The redesigned E-Class and the all-new A-Class are just the first of 20 new Mercedes-Benz products that will be introduced into the Chinese auto market by 2015. Scroll down for the full press release on long-wheelbase E.
