Greetings,
I assume that if you are looking at Esprits then you know what they are and so I will not tell you all the details you can easily lookup elsewhere :-)

With this car you have the chance to own a true super car at a very reasonable price for its year and mileage. It's a good car but it has some history.

I have recently completed repairs on this really fun driving '98 Esprit. I have rebuilt a number of Esprits over the years and currently own six. The repair of this car is outlined on my web site: http://www.theriens.com/lotus/start98r.htm

This car has been totaled twice. The first time was the result of a left front collision and the second time as a result of an underdash fire. I have been in touch with the previous owner of the car from the collision and have pictures available. I bought this car at insurance auction in May of 2012 and repaired the damage from the underdash fire. The step by step repair is outlined on the web site. The car has an Oregon title with the  Totaled / Reconstructed title brand. The car has never had any frame damage.

This car has dual blow-off valves, runs well, and is a joy to drive. It's really fast. Recent repairs included new refrigerant and as such the AC runs cold.

Feel free to message me for more pictures or to chat on the phone about the car.

Payment: Full payment by the successful bidder is required via wire transfer within 3 business days of auction close.

Shipping: The winning bidder is responsible for arranging for shipping and the shipping charges.

Lotus C-01 motorcycle shows its carbon-fiber face

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Well, this isn't exactly what we were expecting. The images you see above come from Motorcycle News in the UK and are apparently official renderings of what the upcoming Lotus C-01 motorcycle will look like. As you can see, it's sort of a power cruiser, with a raked-out front end and extremely wide rubber out back.
Power will reportedly come from a liquid-cooled V-twin engine sourced from KTM, similar to the one used in the Austrian's brand's own RC8R, but tuned to produce around 200 horsepower. It appears that the powertrain and all its related necessities will be housed in a carbon fiber monocoque (whether the bodywork serves as a stressed member or not, we can't say) in a traditional-looking black (really, exposed carbon fiber weave) and yellow color scheme.
From the looks of these renderings, the C-01 might be intended as a competitor for the Ducati Diavel and ought to be very quick in a straight line. We're not so sure that's what a motorcycle wearing the Lotus badge should be, even if its builders are only using the marque's name under license, but we're looking forward to seeing the final result in production trim.

Lotus bows out of Paris Motor Show

Mon, 16 Jul 2012

The plan put forth by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar was to explode the British brand into the high-dollar sports car segment and directly challenge its marquee names. The first explosion came with the surprise introduction of five concepts at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. What has continued to surprise, though, is that the explosions haven't stopped: parent company Proton has had troubles leading to a reworking of its Formula One involvement, its IndyCar effort has had a rough ride, Proton's sale to Malaysian conglomerate DRB Hicom led to a production stoppage, and while the company was reassured that it wouldn't be sold, Bahar was shown the door - along with four of those Paris concepts, as far as we can tell. Yet the company is still making highly regarded cars and going racing.
So it shouldn't be all that surprising that, according to a report in Car and Driver, Lotus won't be attending this year's Paris Motor Show at all. Lotus didn't have much to show off at the Geneva Motor Show or the New York Show as all development was halted for two months, and the new corporate owner and new CEO installed by that owner are still working through the details of its niche English property. We will hope this is nothing more than a step in the reorganization, and look forward to seeing the Hethel firm again in Los Angeles or Detroit.

Lotus opens the 2013 Formula One season with the launch of the E21 [w/video]

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Lotus has broken the seal on the 2013 Formula One season, launching the E21 car at its factory in Enstone. With the regulations this year quite similar to those of last year, there are no dramatic changes in form compared to the E20. After some teams lobbied to be able to cover the stepped nose with a "vanity panel," Lotus retained the configuration, the team's technical director saying that the panel would add more weight and didn't make sense to put on the car unless it also added performance.
Beyond that, the E21 is said to be an comprehensive advance in its details - the suspension gets a new layout, the Coanda exhaust and the passive double DRS system are evolutions from last year, the front wing is "a continuation of concepts" from 2009.
After securing fourth in the Constructor's Championship last year, this is the chassis that drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean will use to try and move the team up a place, which would mean beating one of the big three teams over the course of the season. The quietly and impressively consistent Räikkönen managed third in the Driver's Championship, and we're sure he wouldn't mind a move up in the standings, either.
