1969 Lotus Elan on 2040-cars

This is a beautiful clean Lotus Elan. It has new paint from a high level restoration paint shop specializing in
fiberglass. This car shows 27000 miles. I can’t guarantee it but believe it’s true. The body was extremely
clean when stripped of paint. The engine had the head removed to fix an oil leak that happens from the ageing of a
rubber hose on the side of the engine that occurs on all twin cam lotuses. While we were in there we put in a new
water pump -- with the head being off. Brakes and steering area tie rod ends bushings and etc. replaced. The rubber
donut drive axle couplings which are part of the rear drive mechanism were replaced. New master cylinder and brake
cylinders rebuilt. New rear main engine seal replaced and while there the clutch was replaced. Top, wood dash, and
center console are also new. Seats seem good except for small cut in passenger seat that you have to look for.
Speedometer does run too fast and will need to be sent off for repair. Electrically I think everything works. This
car runs beautifully. It's fast and it handles amazing like a Lotus should.
The rubber donuts are new with restoration.
Tires are approximately 3 years old and are lower cost tires but have almost new tread.
99% sure frame is original. I do not have a full history of this car.
Leaks were fixed with rear main seal replacement and side engine hose. No other leaks are known.
Radiator was removed and cleaned and the car never over heats. Gas tank was cleaned and coated.
This car has never been driven in the rain while I’ve owned it. The wipers work great but I've never paid any
attention to the washers.

Top Gear caught filming Best of British near Buckingham Palace
Mon, 24 Jun 2013YouTuber and car-fan extraordinaire Shmee probably had very little trouble tracking down the Top Gear film crew recently, as the group was putting together an episode that could accurately be described as "excessive." With its flag-waving (literally) Best of British theme, the TG guys gathered a jaw-dropping array of British cars, and parked them all right in front of Buckingham Palace to make extra sure that the point was driven home.
Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were outfitted with a trio of Jaguar F-Types festooned with gigantic Union Jacks, with which to survey the landscape of British motoring glory. In the video below, you'll see that this includes any number of Mini, Aston Martin, Lotus, McLaren, Land Rover, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models (just to name a few), as well as a healthy dose of weird stuff that most people would never guess at being built in the UK. The lawnmowers and military vehicles are especially cool.

Sun, 25 Nov 2012EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.

Lotus reveals new LMP1 at Le Mans
Fri, 13 Jun 2014Lotus is at Le Mans this week where it has unveiled its new LMP1. Only it's not racing at Le Mans. And it's not really a Lotus, either.
The prototype belongs to an independent German team that ran a Lotus chassis in the LMP2 category last year, but was granted license by the FIA and ACO to step up to the top-tier LMP1 category to dice it with the front-running hybrids from Audi, Porsche and Toyota this year. Unfortunately, the team - which licenses the Lotus name from the automaker, much as the F1 team does - faced some setbacks. Not the least of those delays resulted from a mid-stream switch in engine suppliers from the Audi-sourced, naturally aspirated V8 it was originally set to use to a new turbocharged V6 from Advanced Engine Research.
As a result it wasn't ready for the Silverstone race that kicked off this season's World Endurance Championship in April. Nor was it ready for the second round at Spa in May or not for the headline event this weekend at Le Mans, but it aims to be on the track at the next round in Austin.
