This car is being sold as a private sale by my grandmother in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The car was owned by my late grandfather, and I remember growing up seeing that car in the garage each time I would visit.

I am working on getting all the details, but here is what she emailed me for the time being:

"I had a new compressor for the AC installed. I ran it once and it quit. They found a leak and thought all was well but it quit again. They kept it a couple of weeks. They put die in the system and again thought all was well. I ran it again and it quit. This time it was a fuse. I don't run it to do errands because of parking spaces and I parked at the mall for a rather long time and someone put a deep scratch on the rear fender - driver's side. I plan to have it detailed and I will ask if they can do something to fix that scratch. So far it has been running without any problems.  It is a 1979 Lincoln Town Car.  It has always been kept in the garage but after so many years it does need a new top and a paint job. The leather still looks great except there is a little wear on the driver's seat.  It has 4 new tires and the breaks have been worked on so all is well with them.  The stitching came loose on the inside top over windshield. I wanted to have it replaced but I was told it was a very big job with that type car so all he did was give me matching thread and I did my best to sew it back. I have had the same garage service the car since Grandpop became ill and I have the service tickets from about that time. I don't know what else to tell you but if you need more let me know.  I just thought about the odometer--It was replaced and I'm not sure about the exact milage. It must be near 100,000 miles but when Grandpop was sick I think a new head was installed. The engine is in very good condition and passes the emissions test that we have to pass to renew our licenses."

If you'd like to look at the car, please feel free to contact me so I can set up a meeting.

Thanks for looking, and we hope you have a great week!

Ellen DeGeneres sends up Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln ad

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Lincoln had to have known that when it released its new ad campaign for the new MKC with Matthew McConaughey, it would open itself up to a bit of good old fashioned ridicule. The television commercial was, after all, good for a laugh or two. And true to their mission, talk show hosts haven't missed the opportunity to have a little fun at Lincoln's and McConaughey's expense.
Conan O'Brien was first to send up the television spot, but now Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stab at it too, superimposing herself in the back seat of the compact luxury crossover, downing some pot brownies and generally playing Costello to McConaughey's Abbott. It's worth a watch, if only to see Ellen getting down in her usual, offbeat style.

Five vehicles named Top Safety Pick+ including new Civic, MKZ

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

In an attempt to help push vehicle safety to a higher level, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety created a stricter Top Safety Pick+ rating last year, which incorporates a brutal small overlap test and requires cars to get Good ratings in four out of the five categories (and no less than Acceptable in the fifth). Joining the list of the safest cars of 2013, the 2013 Volvo XC60, Lincoln MKZ, Honda Civic (sedan and coupe) and the 2014 Mazda6 have all received the coveted TSP+ rating.
The Mazda6 and Lincoln MKZ have both been completely redesigned, and both received Acceptable ratings in the small overlap test. The Honda Civic, coming off its emergency refresh for 2013, is the first small car to be subjected to the small overlap test, and IIHS says that one of the car's many upgrades includes a stiffer front structure allowing it to receive Good ratings in all categories. Similarly, the XC60 gets all Good ratings thanks to, according to IIHS, Volvo updating the airbag software allowing the side airbags to inflate during the small overlap test.
The 2014 Subaru Forester has not yet been subjected to the small overlap test, so it must make do with just a Top Safety Pick rating until the IIHS tests small utility vehicles, which is expected to happen later in the spring.

2015 Lincoln MKC

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Back in 2012, Lincoln claimed its comeback bid was finally underway with the new-for-2013 MKZ. But don't you believe them - the renaissance won't actually begin in earnest until the shapely compact crossover seen here reaches showrooms in big numbers. That's because while the four-door MKZ was indeed a proper step toward rebirth, the 2015 MKC is the first wholly conceived vehicle under Lincoln as a standalone brand, a move first announced back in 2012.
That's an important distinction, because Lincoln's newfound emancipation from Ford's design and development processes has given the struggling marque both the corporate wherewithal and the will to develop a more fully formed product. The four-wheeled result seen here is a surprisingly cohesive luxury CUV, one with significantly more aesthetic and dynamic separation from its Ford Escape sibling than the MKZ and its Fusion counterpart. Said another way, after flogging Lincoln's latest for hundreds of miles over canyon roads outside of Santa Barbara, we've come to understand that this is far from a re-grilled Dearborn special with luxury tinsel - it's a bona fide standalone product that readily displays the sort of clear differentiation seen in platform cousins like the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. It's the real deal.
