Only 52,243 original miles. 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport in immaculate condition.  It was built for the trails and has been meticulously maintained...always garaged when not in use.  Has only seen a few thousand miles in the last couple of years for recreation and outings.  Don't let the good looks fool you, this is a very, very capable off road machine.  The previous owner babied it and kept it in top condition.  Only the best new parts have ever been installed on this Jeep...no used parts.  All original interior.  Sheet metal is original and in excellent shape.  The photos really speak for themselves.  Soft top is in very good condition.  No tears and all zippers work.  Service always done regularly - never neglected.  Excellent glass.  Air blows cold and the heater works great.  An Arizona Jeep it's whole life...NO rust.  No leaks.  Has some very minor rock chips in the front (can see in pics).

The interior is immaculate.  No holes, tears, or stains in carpet and seats are excellent (one tear in vinyl on driver's seat in the usual place).  Upgrades include:

  • Engine:  4.0L 242 cu. in. I6
  • Automatic Transmission
  • Pro Comp Stage II, 4" Suspension Lift
  • Iron man 4x4 Fab upper rear adjustable control arms
  • Rugged Ridge SYE kit
  • Custom built Adam's rear drive shaft
  • 1" crawler ready front coil spacers
  • 8,000 lb. Mile Marker Winch
  • Warn winch plate
  • Custom built Dirt Worx front bumper
  • Toys by Troy rear bumper with swing out tire carrier
  • Airaid/Poweraid throttle body spacer
  • Viiair onboard air compressor
  • 4 KC Lights (Daylighters) 150w with mounting hardware
  • Smittybuilt rock sliders
  • Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB
  • Overhead CB console
  • Tuffy slide out rear tool box
  • JKS sway bar quick disconnects
  • Detroit Truetrac front locker
  • Front chromo axle shafts
  • Dana 44 rear axle (new brake parts, wheel cyls, springs, and clips).
  • New full spool chromo axle shafts
  • All new rear brake hardware and lines
  • Front and rear G2 trussed differential covers
  • 5 - 8"x15" Eagle alloy wheels
  • 35" 12.50x15 BFG Mud Terrain tires
  • Hi Lift jack and hood mount hardware
  • 4.56 gears front and rear
  • K&N cold air kit
  • 2 1/2" exhaust
  • Stainless steel header
  • Slider windows (driver and passenger sides)
  • Kenwood CD player
  • Locking lug nuts with key

This jeep really only needs one thing, and that is to have some keys made for the doors and to get a new key for the Tuffy box.  The key ring with these keys were lost from the previous owner.  A locksmith can do it easily and cheaply.  I've considered this in my asking price (just being honest and up front).  Really not a huge deal (it's a soft top, so if someone really wanted to get into it, they could).

This is a great opportunity to pick up a VERY well built and extremely capable and reliable Jeep.  At just over 52,000 miles, it's just getting broken in.  I don't want to part with it, but I'm trying to purchase a home.  This Jeep is ready to go.  You won't be disappointed.

Winning bidder is responsible for shipping.  No warranties implied or otherwise.

Chrysler banks $507 million in Q2, trims 2013 earnings forecast

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

Chrysler has some good news and some bad news. First, profits were up 16 percent over the second quarter of 2012, bringing the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer $507 million on the back of strong demand for trucks and SUVs (a recurring theme this quarter, particularly in the US). Q2 revenue was up as well, from $16.8 billion in 2012 to $18 billion in 2013. The bad news is that the Pentastar's overall earnings forecast for net income in 2013 has been trimmed from $2.2 billion to between $1.7 and $2.2 billion, according to Automotive News.
In addition to the adjusted net income forecast, Chrysler tweaked its operating profit from $3.8 billion to between $3.3 and $3.8 billion. This has gone largely unexplained by Chrysler, perhaps hoping the news of a three-percent increase in its transaction prices for Q2 will allow it to sweep this adjustment under the rug.
The star of the show for Chrysler has been its US sales, which saw a 10-percent jump, both bettering the industry average of eight percent and improving over the same stretch of 2012. As with the increase in transaction prices, Chrysler has the new Ram pickup and Jeep Grand Cherokee to thank. Perhaps most worrying from this report, though, is that every brand in the automaker's stable saw an increase in sales... except for the Chrysler brand itself.

2014 Jeep Cherokee flaunts its new contemporary curves

Wed, 27 Mar 2013

Only slightly more than one month ago, undisguised (and less-than-flattering) shots of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee were leaked online. Later that day, in an effort to suppress the uprising, Jeep countered with its own official photography offering us much clearer front and three-quarter views. We've been left to digest those pictures for weeks.
Now, mere hours before the fabric comes sliding off its newest mid-size sport-utility at its live reveal at the New York Auto Show, Jeep has released dozens of new images showing all four corners, plus a few interior shots, of its new Cherokee.

Updated 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee ace same controversial moose test it failed in 2012 [w/video]

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

Some background: one of the more scandalous international incidents of he-said/he-said from 2012 was when Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld put the Jeep Grand Cherokee through its "moose (or elk) test" and reported that the SUV nearly rolled over. That lead to a whole lot of accusations and rebuttals: more than one website and Chrysler's own blog reported that the Jeep was overloaded; Chrysler said Teknikens printed the magazine then let Chrysler respond, Teknikens answered all of the charges in a lengthy post and said Chrysler was given a chance to comment before it went to print; when Chrysler sent investigators to oversee the test and the Jeep didn't go up on two wheels as it did in the first test, furthermore all four wheels stayed on the ground when Auto Motor und Sport tested a Grand Cherokee in the same way.
Teknikens then re-ran the test with a new vehicle and said it's been doing this test since the 1970s, uses the loading information that Chrysler provides to the Swedish motor authority and the previous Grand Cherokee passed with no problem. In the second test, the Jeep failed again, then it gave Chrysler engineers access to the car's electronics and ran the test again. In that second round the Grand Cherokee didn't repeat the lurid two-wheel action, but in eleven runs it blew out front left tire seven times. Chrysler still objects to the results of all of those tests and maintains that vehicle was safe.
The 2014 Grand Cherokee was given its shot at the gauntlet in the latest round of moose tests, and Teknikens Varld reports that it passed without any problem at all, its stability control working perfectly, controlling motion at low speeds and all the way up to 44.1 miles per hour. You can watch the video of the new test and read the press release from the magazine on the updated Grand Cherokee below.
