The iconic and sleek series III Jaguar XJ6 is considered by many to be
one of the great sedan designs. Low slung with beautifully balanced
proportions and lines, this car is a pleasure to behold. This particular
car is in very good condition, with a recent respray in its original
Burgundy, Dayton wire wheels and nice tan leather interior. It runs and
drives well and gets looks everywhere it goes.
Body: The body is straight with only a few very minor dings and chips. The paint is a good quality respray that is even, consistent and glossy. The chrome and brightwork is in very good condition, including the bumpers. There are two areas where the windshield meets the cowl where there is some rust bubbling under the paint. Other than that, the car is very rust free with solid rockers and floorpans. The glass is in good condition and nicely tinted windows add to car's sleek appearance. The authentic Dayton wire wheels are in good condition but the rear wheels have some flaking clear coat. Combined with chrome knock-offs, they give the car an even more classic look. The tires are matching Goodyear Assurance radials with lots of tread depth. Interior: The interior is in solid shape with very nice door panels. The front seats have some seam splitting while the back seats are very nice. The dash has a few cracks. The wood fascia appears nice but has some checking. Switch gear, gauges, and lights work correctly. The car has a CD player and all power window work except for the passenger side rear window. The headliner is not torn but is a little tired looking with some sagging. The power sunroof works correctly. There is a set of factory owner's manuals, factory jack, and an incomplete factory tool kit included with the car. Mechanicals: This car runs and drives well. The engine is strong and healthy and was rebuilt 54,000 miles ago. The transmission was also recently adjusted to shift smoother and all hoses and the brakes reconditioned. It starts and idles well though it has an intermittent hot idle issue; when this happens, the car will still start easily, but the idle will bog down and sometimes stall. This does not affect the drivability of the car. The transmission shifts well. The brakes function properly and have good pedal feel and response. The AC does not currently work, though the system is complete and intact. Overall: This Jaguar is quite beautiful, and as a 10-footer, gives the appearance of a fully restored classic. It runs and drives well and is great to cruise around in. It could be enjoyed as is and driven regularly, or with a little TLC could be made into an excellent example. |

Jaguar C-X17 rides high into Frankfurt
Tue, 10 Sep 2013After enviously watching its competitors rake in piles of crossover-shaped dollars for years, Jaguar is poised to get into the game with a production model based on this C-X17 concept. While the British brand hasn't officially confirmed it will sell a utility vehicle - indeed, brand fans and industry watchers have wondered whether the Leaping Cat even need to get into the game considering its corporate cousins at Land Rover - we would be dumbfounded if it didn't happen in short order.
We've always been concerned that Jaguar's styling language wouldn't translate well to a high-riding shape, but here at its Frankfurt Motor Show debut, the C-X17 comes off as quite handsome (if predictable) in the metal. The same couldn't always be said of Jag's styling DNA, but newer models beginning with the XF and the XJ have introduced design elements like a larger, more vertical grille that suit the C-X17's form factor exceedingly well. Even the rear end successfully borrows its taillamp design from the glorious new F-Type Roadster.
Underneath the concept's two-box shape is a new aluminum unibody that Jag says it is poised to employ on its next-generation models, including the long-expected midsize sedan coming to North America in 2016. Jaguar has long been a leader in aluminum chassis development even as it has struggled to take weight out of some of its vehicles (the F-Type, for instance, isn't exactly lightweight). Thus far, Jaguar isn't talking powertrains other than to say it will employ a new generation of gas and diesel engines.

Fri, 02 Aug 2013If you're lucky enough to have a nice vehicle, do your fellow gearheads a favor and don't park like a clown. Seriously. Not only will you anger everyone who is trying to find a place to park, but your nice car is a billboard reinforcing the stereotype that car people are self-important and inconsiderate.
Take this gentleman for example. He has a Jaguar XK, and understandably wants to take care of it. Rather than parking it far, far away from any other cars and getting a bit of exercise by walking to his building, he takes up two spots (albeit barely) close to the structure. From the cameraman's narration, we can tell his coworkers are less than thrilled about his inability to stay between the lines.
Naturally, they wanted to teach him a lesson, so they parked a bigger vehicle as close to his driver's door as possible. Mr. XK's attempts to enter his vehicle are rather amusing, culminating in his climbing through the passenger side and scooching over to the driver's seat. While we can debate this sort of treatment all day long, it was effective. The video includes a follow up at the end showing where the XK driver parked the next day, and as you might guess, it wasn't in the same spot.
Evil Brits star in Jaguar's first-ever Super Bowl commercial
Wed, 29 Jan 2014Chrysler's Imported from Detroit commercial from Super Bowl XLV is one of the most powerful car commercials in recent memory, and Jaguar is taking a similar approach - albeit with a more villainous spin - for its first-ever Super Bowl spot titled Rendezvous. While Chrysler and Eminem focused on hometown cheerleading, Jaguar is using its $8 million (the going rate for a 60-second commercial in this year's game) to play up the Hollywood tradition of typecasting a Brit as the bad guy.
In the spot highlighting the all-new F-Type Coupe, Jaguar looked to director Tom Hooper (the man behind movies like The King's Speech and 2012's Les Misérables), who filmed on location in London with British bad guy actors Mark Strong, Ben Kingsley and Tom Hiddleston. As the commercial implies, Brits make perfect bad guys with their style, sound and power, which are all traits evident in the F-Type.
The commercial will air in the fourth quarter of this Sunday's game, but you can watch it now in the video posted below. Jaguar has also included a press release as well as a second behind-the-scenes video showing how the ad was made.
