Very little is known about the history of this vehicle but the vehicle is currently in my name and I have the ICBC paperwork.  I bought the car in BC, Canada.  I have a suspicion that it may have originally been sold in Winnipeg, but I only deduce this from the faded sticker in the back window, so I could be completely wrong. 

It did run, but very poorly.  As mentioned in the condition description, I believe the last owner may have damaged the engine by allowing water into the intake whilst the engine was running.  I have had the vehicle at least five years, and I was told that it had sat in a barn for something like 13 years.  It has lived in my car port in Burnaby BC whilst in my ownership.  I had intended to perform the welding work on the vehicle and either locate a used XK motor or lump it (insert a V8).  I had located a refurbished XK motor some years ago for ~$1400 but passed it up.  Turns out the house, music, and other commitments take too much of my time to realistically take on repairs.

To summarize:

  • Engine: poor condition.  Possibly could be rebuilt, but you won't know until it's dismantled.  Fuel tanks have likely had it I would think and fuel injection setup needs some TLC.  Wiring is also suspect.
  • Interior: Not bad.  Drivers carpet is worn out but the rear seems OK.  Tan leather seats are all there and with some treatment may look reasonable.  All dials, buttons and controls are present.  Wood dash finish has cracked somewhat on the glove compartment side or the car.  Rust in drivers foot well and in places about the floor pan.
  • Body: It seems like the car has avoided the windshield pillar rot that afflicts many XJ6, and under the back seat seems solid.  Front fenders seem basically OK.  Rear wheel arches have bubbled with rust and the last owner did a poor job of filling.  Rust around the rear and underside of the car.  Bumpers show signs of parking lot abuse with a dent on the passenger rear quarter bumper.  Wheels are generally good but with some signs of rust, particularly drivers front.  Trunk is clean but with a bit of rust under the spare wheel, but not much by Jag standards.
  • Running gear (Wheels, axles, etc.): Many bushings and bearing are worn out.  The whole lot would have to be inspected and repaired as required.

 

This car could either be a project for the adventurous, or a parts car.  Everything looks like it is present and correct but mechanically, a lot is required.  Jaguar parts are expensive and XJ6 values are generally low...

Jaguar F-Type Project 7 leaks in production trim ahead of Goodwood debut

Just yesterday we brought you word that Jaguar was planning to bring something special to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year - the first product of its Special Operations division - and now we have it right here.
Previewed in concept form last year, Jaguar's big reveal appears to be the production version of the Project 7 show car - an extreme speedster version of the F-Type. Though we still don't have official details, these images leaked courtesy of 4WheelsNews show that the roadster seems to have lost little in the transition from concept to reality.
The bright blue paint job has been replaced by a more British shade of green, but the white trim - including the racing stripes running across (not up) the hood, the grille surround and the number circle on the door - appear to have carried over. As has the D-Type-inspired, fin-like, single raised cowling on the rear deck, though now positioned behind the left-hand driver's seat instead of the right. The wheels are fresh and the front lip spoiler looks even bigger, and the rear wing appears to have been reshaped.

Jaguar Land Rover creates new Special Operations division for halo vehicles, bespoke commissions

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that a new division of the British manufacturer will be dedicated to "bespoke commissions," as well as heritage products and apparel. Oh, and the new Special Operations division will also be behind JLR's halo cars from now on.
It's that last one that is the most tantalizing, as the last real halo product to see production from Jaguar was the XJ220. The Range Rover, meanwhile, has always had its own kind of halo reputation, although the Land Rover brand itself has never really gotten into the game with a dedicated model.
According to JLR, the new halo models will focus on ultra-high performance and luxury with a limited run of vehicles. The bespoke models, meanwhile, will give the wealthiest customers full sway over how vehicles are outfitted, with unique paints, trims and other accessories. The new SpecOps division will be run by John Edwards.

Jaguar crossover won't be based on Evoque or have off-road chops

Jaguar's long-rumored crossover won't be built on the same platform as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, says the Australian site Car Advice. The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
Jaguar product planner Steven De Ploey explained to Car Advice, "There's many groups around the world [platform sharing] - obviously Volkswagen Group is doing it all the time - but I think we have to be careful. He added, "Jaguar is something quite different... It's about capability, but very much on-road focused capability." That seems to gel with our suspicions that the XQ, as it's expected to be called, will share its platform with an upcoming small Jaguar sedan, the oft-rumored X-Type successor.
Still, we'd recommend taking any mention of a Jaguar crossover with a grain of salt. Based on many of the (quite compelling) statements made by De Ploey against a Jag crossover and previous statements made by Jag's design boss, Ian Callum, the case against a leaper-bearing crossover seems strong. If a high-rider were to arrive from Jaguar, though, the article insinuates that it'd be more in line with the BMW X6 or upcoming X4 - sort of a coupe-based crossover. Like we said, grain of salt. If a Jag crossover is going to arrive soon, the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is the most likely locale for its debut. We'll find out in a few weeks.
