The 1960's Jaguar roadster is the most beautiful car ever conceived and built. Sleek, sexy and low with incredible speed and agility, it makes one palpitate with igneous desire. The pictures tell the full story. This car has been completely restored and is ready to show and drive. Never hit, rusted or welded, it has the most prized of color combinations: Signal Red with tan biscuit leather interior. Always a California car which has just returned from a two year vacation in Portland, OR. where it was always garaged and never driven in rain. Vin # 1R8604. She is bone straight save for a a very small parking lot ding on the left door, which you need to look hard to see. There are no issues to speak off mechanically. Engine and transmission were completely gone through 5 years ago by a previous owner; doesn't smoke and has great oil pressure. All electrical systems function except clock and horn. Suspension is all rebuilt. Brakes, exhaust and tires are new. Paint is 3 years old and is a single stage that's been cut and polished. All chrome was recently removed from the car and triple plated. A new windshield and top installed at that time. She runs and looks fantastic but is not a 100 pt. garage queen. She can be driven and enjoyed like the previous owners before her. Car is available for viewing anytime during the auction period not afterwards. I am an hour's drive North of Los Angeles. It is advertised locally and subject to prior sale. Title is clear. Jaguar to expand Jaguar XKR-S GT production run?
Wed, 10 Apr 2013According to a report in Autocar, demand for the Jaguar XKR-S GT is such that the English company could nearly double production from 30 to 50 cars. Such inflation can often incense those have already put deposits down, worried that they've both been lied to about the potentially diminished values of their cars, but Jaguar has made the announcement barely a day after the XKR-S GT was revealed and 50 still isn't that many vehicles.
Nothing in the Autocar report indicates the additional examples will not come to America, making the 500-horsepower superfast coupe a treat we can still call all our own. Jaguar didn't add horsepower but instead honed other aspects of the car to produce a GT that can lap the 'Ring nearly as quickly as a Ferrari 458 Italia, and the world should be the beneficiary, the company's brand director saying, "The real beauty of this project has been that it has extended our understanding of the elements involved in making a car go so fast, and that will feed back into all our road car programs." Sounds good to us.
David Brown Automotive launches old-is-new-again Speedback [w/video]
Thu, 27 Mar 2014Back in January, we reported on a new British coachbuilder called David Brown Automotive. In February, the startup released the first details and images of its inaugural project, and now it has revealed the finished product.
It's called Speedback, and it's based on the Jaguar XKR. But while it's built on a modern chassis (relatively, anyway - the XK arrived in 2006 and is soon to be discontinued), it's been rebodied to look like a classic British GT. That means that, while it may look like a classic Aston Martin, it's got a thoroughly modern 5.0-liter supercharged V8 under the hood with over 500 horsepower on tap.
Otherwise, little in the way of details have been disclosed - including what you can bet will be an astronomic price that tends to come with these sorts of coachbuilt customs. But the important parts are what you can see, and that means the finest British craftsmanship inside and out. Whether you like the particular style or not, of course, is entirely a matter of taste.
Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.
