1972 Jaguar Series 3 V12 Xke Coupe Project on 2040-cars

Year:1972 Mileage:82365 Color: sills on the drivers side are sound
Location:

Too Many projects and not enough time to finish them all, that and the fact that the dreaded "Tax Time" is almost here. For these reasons I am reluctantly putting my 1972 XKE V 12 Series III 2+2 Coupe Project car, up for sale.
I purchased this car for restoration because it has the four most desirable options (In my opinion) that the Series III cars ever came with, #1) 4 speed Manual Transmission, #2) Wire Wheels, #3) Air Conditioning, #4) Biscuit Interior, and chrome blade bumpers.

This car needs a full restoration, there is some rust in the floors , though much less than you would expect. The interior and exterior sills on the drivers side are sound, as is the floor and tunnel.  The front bulk head where the Power brake booster bolts needs to be replaced, as does the rear (last 7" or 8" of the drivers side floor. This rust is confined to the place where the Left Radius arm bolts to the floor.

On the passengers side, the first 8" to 9" of the outer sill (where the battery sits) needs attention as does the battery tray as well as the last 3" or 4" where the battery bulk head welds to the front of the Passengers side floor. The other minor areas of rust are 6" or 7" of the lips that hold the rubber gaskets that seal the hood to the top of the tub and the portal where the rear trunk door closes. Photos of these areas are available on request.

. The motor needs to be cleaned and perhaps refreshed (I have not started it nor ever heard it run) but it does spin freely, and might be able to run with some attention. The car has great tires, suspension , wires, glass and chrome (With the exception of the front bumper blades), and the exhaust system appears to be in good re-usable condition. There does not appear to be any previous  damage repairs, and all in all the required work necessary to put the car back on the road should pretty straightforward!

With the car I am including a number of parts that I have purchased for the restoration of the car. The most exciting of these is a full custom Carburetor conversion set up that changes the old Stromberg carburetors to a brand new matched set of 2" SU's and all the required linkages and fittings! This conversion is custom assembled in Germany and allows the 5.3L V 12 to breath deeply. producing better fuel economy, and lots more Horse power and torque! The kit alone is worth over $2,000.00.

Please feel free to ask any questions. I am also happy to provide additional photographs upon request.

Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee season 2 opens with Sarah Silverman and Jag E-Type

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

Season Two of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee kicked this week in style. How much more style is there to be had than in a 1969 Jaguar XKE, after all? This time around, Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman spend some time driving around in the "slinky, sexy" Jag, talking comedy and then grabbing breakfast.
In addition to the kickoff of the show's second season, this episode also represents the start of a 24-episode sponsorship with Acura. The original deal promised short ads at the beginning and end of each episode, but this time around, Seinfeld "stumbles upon" a 2014 Acura RLX, which is obviously - and admittedly - the work of product integration. Scroll down to watch Seinfeld and Silverman exchange banter with the Jag's beauty as a happy backdrop.

Wacky Jaguar crossover mule is a mind-blowing mashup

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

As Jaguar prepares to introduce its first-ever utility vehicle, our spy shooters have captured this jacked-up XF mule out testing. While a production Jaguar crossover will surely resemble something closer to the recent C-X17 Concept, we can't help but think that the automaker could sell at least a few of these lifted, four-wheel-drive sedans.
Other than proving that Jaguar is hard at work developing this new model using a cobbled-together body, there are some details we can put together about this luxury CUV. For one it's about the same length as an XF, while the ride height is obviously taller and the tire track wider. We're not sure what the rig on top of this mule is for, but the whole car has us reminiscing about the old sedan versions of the Subaru Outback and the AMC Eagle (with a luxury spin, of course).

Jaguar details new Ingenium four-cylinder engines [w/video]

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

When Jaguar lifted the veil on its new XE sports sedan earlier this month, it only revealed details on one engine - that being the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in the flagship XE S. But we already knew that the British automaker's new entry-level model will offer many other powertrain options, and now it has revealed a little more.
Jaguar has been developing a new family of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines it calls Ingenium, which will be offered in a wide array of configurations and specifications. In advance of its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the Leaping Cat marque has announced the specifications of the two diesel versions. The first will offer 161 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and some of the best environmental credentials on the market. There will also be a more potent version with 177 hp and 317 lb-ft, which Jaguar says is "one of the highest torque outputs in the class." Either way, both versions feature variable exhaust valve timing, cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation and selective catalytic reduction technologies to help meet the stringent Euro 6 standards.
That's all well and fine, but considering that Jaguar doesn't offer diesels in North America, the chances of these oil-burners making their way Stateside seem slim. But if you watch the video below, you'll also find basic specs on their gasoline counterparts as well. Like the diesels, they're turbocharged and displace 2.0 liters, but in petrol form, they offer 197 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque, or 236 hp and 250 lb-ft.
