Very sweet and striking E-type, fantastic shine, beautiful Azure blue, great fun to drive and just awesome to look at!

There is nothing quite like an XKE! I am around other British cars all day but when I parked this cat at the boat yard to take these pictures, I was surprised how I couldn't take my eyes off this cool car! I spent quite a bit of time marveling at the unique shape of this stunning car (everyone who sees it agrees). It is a true sculptural form.

This particular Jaguar is a solid and rust free car. The body is straight with no dents or dings. Floor pans have been replaced with correct factory steel welded-in replacements.
The body is smooth, with no signs of damage. In the tub, you can see where floor restoration has been done. The seams for the new floor pans are all welded. There is seam sealer over the welds.

Nose is excellent, front of nose is very smooth especially up front where these are vulnerable to parking lot dents-nice! There is one dent under the nose, but you have to put the car up on a lift to see it, front of the nose (that you DO see) is excellent ( I have 80 pictures on my website, for more info-click link below).

Chrome is quite nice throughout with only some minor pitting on the front bumper. Chrome wire wheels are nearly new, with excellent tires. Boring octagon knock offs were replaced with much more lively two eared knock offs. Nice! No A/C. Runs cool. Runs great! Great brakes!

The interior is very good, with original black glove leather seats with no tears or issues (see photos) and good dashboard and switches. The car comes with the original correct jack in the factory pouch. The car also has a nearly new stayfast/deluxe canvas top, that has been stored folded so the back window is a little creased. These creases should relax out in the sun. Windshield glass is excellent.

This car is great to drive with smooth six cylinder power and a great four-speed gear box. Great oil pressure, smooth shifting, everything sounds wonderful, recent exhaust system. You can ride along in the video below!

The car has a very good paint job and this is a great color on the car. Azure blue was not a stock color in 1970 but was a correct color for series three E-types. It is possible that the color was special ordered when new. It's also possible the car was red when new. I can't really tell! I I was surprised that I could not find any clear evidence of the original color--everything is Azure blue except one small red spot under the engine, which looks like it could be a spot of primer. If the color was changed, the work was very well done… for example, the gas tank shows azure blue beneath it, so the restorer did thorough work.

Regardless of original color, this is not the right car for collectors focused on details of originality but instead this is the perfect car for a collector who wants an e-type in their garage that looks stunning enough to impress everyone, and is not so perfect that it can't be driven and enjoyed. You can spend a whole lot more on an XKE, but my experience is that the perfect cars just cause me too much anxiety. This car is just right.

As you can see in the video the car drives really well. And you can see in the pictures, this car looks stunning. The car has just a few issues-- clutch engages high, but works great, no slipping or other anomalies-- minor clunk right front suspension-presume a worn bushing that would not be hard to fix--some valve train noise only on cold startup, goes away promptly--center section of nose was repainted at some point, and the color match is not quite perfect. I could not capture this in photos, it's that subtle, but I wanted to make sure the new owner knows this was done. No evidence of any body work in the nose. When the nose is closed you can see the blue does not exactly match between cowl and nose in center portion only. Also, clock not working and there is some wear in carpet on the side of the driver footwell.

We are Bugeye specialists, but also do a lot with other British classics. You can read about us in the cover story of the September issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotics. We love British cars!

In summary, if you are looking for a perfect E-type this is not the car for you. If you instead want a great driver that turns heads everywhere for a lot less money than usual XKE asking prices, then give this one serious consideration!

I've set a very reasonable reserve, in fact, it's easy to find E types for twice the reserve, or more--this one is a great value-- looks great, with a very nice interior and a solid structure. This is an affordable car that looks like a million bucks! If you are wanting to own one of these timeless classics but don't want to take out another mortgage, then this is a great car for you!

Sold as is of course, as with any classic car, with no warranty or guarantees. Fly in and drive this car home for a great fun road trip! Or if you prefer, we ship cars regularly in enclosed trailers, and can help you get the car delivered to your door. Feel free to email a request for a shipping quote. Please email any questions. And good luck bidding!

Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S

Mon, 25 Nov 2013

Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.

Hot Rod Garage series premieres with 700-hp big-block Jaguar XJ

Fri, 23 May 2014

Roadkill hosts Mike Finnegan and David Freiburger have broken up - kinda - to spin off a new show, Hot Rod Garage, that mostly gives up the driveway and parking lot wrench work for the confines of a garage. We say kinda because while Finnegan is the primary host for Hot Rod Garage, Freiburger plays guest host and the new show starts off by wrenching on the Roadkill Draguar project car.
What's the Draguar? It's a 1974 Jaguar XJ12 that's about to be force-fed a 383-cubic-inch Chevrolet long-block engine with tidbits like Holley carbs, a Weiand 6-71 roots blower and a "custom WillBlow transmission," all good for about 700 horsepower. After that Finnegan gets into swapping parts on his wife's El Camino and some TIG welding lessons.
You can check out the first episode below. And in case you're worried, no, Roadkill isn't going away.

Can a Jaguar XKR-S be drifted while blindfolded?

Thu, 27 Dec 2012

Bring together a 550-horsepower Jaguar XKR-S and a rain-soaked skidpad, and it's almost impossible to not end up in a sideways drift... accidental or on purpose. With that in mind, the gang over at Autocar got a hold of the monstrous XKR-S for the latest installment of "Will it Drift?," only they raised the stakes a little by attempting the feat with a blindfolded driver
We've driven the XKR-S a number of times here at Autoblog (including a First Drive, Review and Quick Spin), so we weren't at all surprised to learn that blind drifting in the car is possible. But what is remarkable is the ease at which it happened. This, of course, can be credited as much to the car as to the driver, Steve Sutcliffe. Check out the impressive video for yourself, which is posted after the jump.
