Orchard Park, New York, United States

Very nice special order Jaguar E type, black on black, with full service history and mileage documentation from when it was new!  The car was ordered new in Palm Springs, California. The first owner purchased the car on 5/27/1970 for $5,868.50. He kept a log book of anything done or bought for the car with date, cost and mileage. He keep the car till 10/24/1988 when he traded it in for a Ferrari. The second owner, also from Palm Springs, kept the car there till 2008. He also keep the log book, noting anything no matter how small that was done to the car. The third and last owner, who looked for a car like this for years, searched the country to find a rust free E type. He spared no expense on the car. The last owner did the following repairs done at the Jaguar dealership:   All new rotors; rebuilt calipers; installed pads; replaced both master cylinders; changed fluids; replaced all fuel hoses; replaced all six shocks; replaced belts; replaced distributor, wires and plugs; replaced clutch slave cylinder; mounted and balanced 4 tires; replaced tie rod and ball joints; replaced all hoses; replaced coolant; replaced u joints; repacked wheel bearings and rear hub assemblies; drained and refilled transmission and rear end fluid; installed stainless exhaust system; rebuilt carburetors and much more. I have receipts totaling more than $14,000 in parts and labor. I believe that the third owner disconnected the odometer cable. I believe the mileage is still very close to stated miles. The work performed on the car was done in '09 and '10 with new tires which still have knobbies. The car was used very little after that time. I try to disclose what I know. The car has not been restored. It has had some touch ups over the years, which is also noted in the log book. The car comes with the factory hard top with a new rear window (not installed), all books, foot rest, homemade E type luggage, tonneau cover, never used spare, jack, tool roll and the original wire wheels.  This all comes with the car. The car is number matching and matches the heritage report. The only defects on the car is the dash pad has a previous repair and a crack and the driver seat has a 2" split on the seam.  Hard top will need some seals replaced and the rubber around the bumpers has some cracking. The car was just appraised and it was rated as a Number Two condition.
Engine number  7R9525-9 ; Chassie/VIN number 1R11866 ;  Body number 4R6412 ;  Gear Box number  KE10784
The car is located outside Buffalo, New York. The car will come with a transferable New York State registration from the previous owner as New York does not issue titles on pre 1973 vehicles. Pick up of the extra wheels and the rear window is the buyers responsibility.  Car is sold in "as is" condition.  You are welcome to call 716-432-3360.

Jaguar F-Type Coupe is here, will debut on stage in LA

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

When Jaguar previewed its new sportscar two years ago with the C-X16 concept, it showed a coupe form. But when the car hit production as the F-Type, it rolled out in roadster form only. Not that we're complaining, but we all knew it wouldn't be long before Coventry revealed the production coupe, and that's just what it's doing at this month's LA Auto Show.
Jaguar hasn't given us much to go on yet - just a single shot of the vehicle from above and nothing in the way of technical details - but we all know the drill. The F-Type Coupe will essentially be the same as the existing roadster, only with a fixed roof - with a large glass panel, mind you, to let plenty of light in and keep the cabin from feeling markedly more claustrophobic than the open-top version.
That ought to make it a little lighter (though not much) and a little stiffer, but otherwise we can expect more or less the same specs as the convertible. We'll have to wait until the evening of November 19 to know for sure, though, so watch this space for more.

Jaguar Land Rover calls in handful of vehicles over suspension bolts

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

With most recalls seemingly affecting mass-market vehicles, it'd be all too easy to assume, consciously or otherwise, that higher-end automobiles never face such issues. But the main reason we don't see the NHTSA recalling more luxury automobiles isn't because of their quality, we'd postulate: it's because of their relative scarcity.
Take Jaguar Land Rover, recalls of whose vehicles we only seem to have cause to report about once a year. So if you're figuring they're about due, here you go. The Indian-owned British auto group has just announced two recalls, both regarding suspension components: one affecting Jaguars and another concerning - you guessed it - Land Rovers.
First up we have a recall for 2013 to 2014 model year Jaguar XJ, XF and XK models - a whopping 297 of them - which have been found to have problematic toe links. Separation of the toe link from the rear sub-frame could result in impaired stability and control over the vehicle's direction, so JLR is calling them in to replace the nuts and washers on the rear toe links.

Jaguar Project 7 concept is an F-Type in a D-Type mold [w/video]

Wed, 10 Jul 2013

In addition to the XJR, XFR-S and XKR-S GT models Jaguar is bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, the manufacturer announced that the F-Type-based, D-Type-inspired Project 7 design study will make its "dynamic" debut at the festival, with driving duties assigned to Mike Cross, Jaguar's chief engineer of vehicle integrity. Here's the cool part: With Jaguar's Director of Design, Ian Callum, leading the team responsible for Project 7, it went from the drawing board to track testing in only four months, Jaguar states, with a claimed 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds and top speed of 186 miles per hour.
Project 7, which was named in honor of Jaguar's seven wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be making runs up the hill at Goodwood over all three days of the festival, which starts at the Goodwood House in West Sussex, England, this Friday.
Far from a fragile concept car, Jaguar says, the single-seat Project 7 is a fully functional sports car. It uses the all-aluminum chassis and body of the F-Type, retains that car's 550-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and eight-speed automatic transmission but features lots of bespoke carbon fiber aerodynamic bits, some of which were inspired by the Le Mans-winning D-Type of the 1950s. The most obvious nod to that classic is the rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop - the F-Type's convertible top is gone. The windshield was also lowered, giving the roadster a more rakish silhouette as it sits on 20-inch forged-alloy wheels with carbon fiber inserts.
