1967 Jaguar E Type - Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe - When Enzo Ferrari saw the first E Type in 1961, he commented it was, "the most beautiful car ever made." The Jaguar E Type was designed as the successor to the Le Mans winning D Type and ranked "first" in the Daily Telegraph's 2008 listing of the "100 most beautiful cars of all time." We have to agree. It is the only automobile to be exhibited in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art as a piece of art; not as an automobile. This Jag is one very highly desirable late Series 1. It has all the best of Jaguar: the 4.2 liter motor still breathing through three S.U. carburetors, backed up by a 4-speed fully synchronized transmission, and still sporting its iconic covered headlights.

This is certificated as a numbers-matching car by the Jaguar Heritage Trust. Certificate is included. This was originally a California car (note the dealer-installed emergency flashers and J-67 plate) which was dispatched from the Coventry factory on 25 May 1966.. It was restored about ten years ago by Classic Showcase in Oceanside, California, in an engine-out restoration.

he only concession since the restoration was the replacement of the single, thermostat-activated, two-bladed radiator fan with a multi-blade constant speed fan. It makes summer driving in city traffic in the notoriously hot and humid Great Lakes region less of an adventure and a lot more practical! If you are a purist (and live somewhere cooler) the switch back is not a big deal.

This car has been meticulously maintained by one of the finest Jaguar mechanics in the Midwest (reference available). It runs like a sewing machine, handles like a Thoroughbred, stops like it has a 10,000 pound anchor out back. And the sound of that inline six engine compared to American muscle cars is like high opera compared to heavy metal.

This car includes the jack and a complete, original tool kit. Also included are some original sales material and reproduction owner's manual. If you can find a nicer E-Type coupe, then buy it. So why am I selling this car that I so dearly love? I am getting old, I need to downsize, and I don't want my kids to have to sell it at a fire sale. I want it to go to someone who will love and care for it for future generations. They don't make ‘em like this anymore. We need to preserve them.

2014 Jaguar XFR-S super sedan is 550-HP worth of cool

Wed, 28 Nov 2012

The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S was considered last year, teased last week and now has been totally let loose. The most powerful sedan the company has ever made and the newest addition to its line of R-S performance cars - following the XKR-S - and we'll be getting even fewer of them than we thought. 200 had been the rumored allotment for the US, but the official word now is that we'll see just 100.
Each XFR-S will use the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that powers the XKR-S, meaning a 40-horsepower and 41-pound-foot bump over the XFR for 550 hp and 502 lb-ft in total. Shifting through the adaptive, eight-speed ZF transmission gets it from standstill to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, but for all that, it gets the same gas mileage as the XFR, aided by its stop/start system, and so doesn't get hit with a gas guzzler tax.
Other XKR-S bits have made the jump, including an upgraded suspension front and rear, the near-straight pipes for the cracking exhaust note we drank up like ambrosia and twenty-inch, six-spoke lightweight wheels that are an inch wider than on the XFR. Lateral stiffness is up 30 percent, the electronic systems have been recalibrated to handle the extra oomph, throttle response has been sharpened and can be made even sharper by going into Dynamic Mode.

Jaguar to expand Jaguar XKR-S GT production run?

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

According to a report in Autocar, demand for the Jaguar XKR-S GT is such that the English company could nearly double production from 30 to 50 cars. Such inflation can often incense those have already put deposits down, worried that they've both been lied to about the potentially diminished values of their cars, but Jaguar has made the announcement barely a day after the XKR-S GT was revealed and 50 still isn't that many vehicles.
Nothing in the Autocar report indicates the additional examples will not come to America, making the 500-horsepower superfast coupe a treat we can still call all our own. Jaguar didn't add horsepower but instead honed other aspects of the car to produce a GT that can lap the 'Ring nearly as quickly as a Ferrari 458 Italia, and the world should be the beneficiary, the company's brand director saying, "The real beauty of this project has been that it has extended our understanding of the elements involved in making a car go so fast, and that will feed back into all our road car programs." Sounds good to us.

Jaguar In Its Purest Form
Jaguar has spent a lot of time, money and engineering effort refocusing itself for the modern world. In 2006, the current XK replaced the former XK8 and introduced a new aluminum-intensive chassis architecture to Jaguar's portfolio, and two years later, the XF whipped up a similar overhaul to its classical styling department.
The next major revision came in 2009, with the introduction of the achingly attractive and completely new XJ sedan, and this step struck us as the biggest improvement yet; not only was Jaguar's flagship built atop a cutting-edge platform, it boasted a newfound sense of style that pointed toward the future while still echoing the brand's storied past. This trend has continued most recently with the two-door F-Type that we've already grown quite fond of.
