1951 Ford Pickup Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Milford, Michigan, United States
Up for sale is a true steel body 1951 Ford pickup rat rod. Many modifications and upgrades as listed below. The rat rod is titled and has been insured/registered over the last few years and always grabs a lot of attention going down the road. Complete functioning drivetrain includes a Pontiac 455 CID motor (out of a 1973 GTO with 1974 cylinder heads) with edlebrock aluminum intake, edlebrock carburetor and vintage hood scoop. Strong V8 sound through the headers and mufflers. Engine starts at the turn of the key. Powered by an automatic turbo 400 transmission controlled by a Hurst shifter and connecting to a 12 bolt rear end. Cooled by an aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan. Front disc breaks / rear drum brakes. Power steering and upgraded front A arm front suspension with a low stance - a must for any rat rod. Interior is a basic bench seat with two seat belts that is comfortable to sit in and drive for me at 6’ tall. Room for somebody even taller or an easy modification to move the bench seat or just adjust the tilt steering column for a closer reach. Gauges include tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature and voltage – all the engine criticals. Door windows move by cranks on the interior door panel but function poorly. Easily moved up and down by hand as an alternative. Crack in the driver’s side door window and passenger’s side door vent window but have been this way for years. Keyed ignition and toggle switch for headlights/taillights/gauge lights and cooling fan are confirmed to function as seen in the pics. This rat rod has been a real head turner any time I’ve been out in it. This has been in my family as it was my uncle’s until this year and I’ll be sad to see it go. We’ve had it out in many classic cruises over the years – a lot of fun to drive. I hope the pictures can display how much of a one of a kind ride this is – please contact me with any other questions and I’ll do my best to provide you as much detail as I can. Thanks for your interest. |

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out
Wed, 11 Dec 2013With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.
Ford builds one-off 50th anniversary Mustang Convertible for charity
Thu, 08 May 2014At the New York Auto Show this year, Ford revealed a special-edition Mustang to honor the iconic pony car's 50th anniversary. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples will be made, all of them fixed-roof coupes. But the Blue Oval automaker has just announced that it's also building a single 50 Years edition convertible that it will raffled off for charity.
The first production example of the new Mustang Convertible to roll off the line this fall, this one-off will pack many of the features on the 50 Years coupe, including its white paintjob, chrome trim, aluminum dashboard, two-tone upholstery, contrast stitching, special 19-inch wheels and special-edition badging throughout.
This unique cabrio will also be fitted with a special performance pack including Pirelli PZero rubber, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential to help get the 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque from the 5.0-liter V8 through the six-speed manual transmission and down to the road. It'll also feature a serial plaque with the number 0001 of 0001 and chairman Bill Ford's signature.
Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.
