2005 Mustang Saleen S281SC. This is 1 of just 31 Mineral Grey Saleens every built on
the S197 platform and 2005 was the last year that color was produced. It was originally supercharged with 400hp to
the crank and backed with a manual transmission. I have owned the car for 10 years and at one time used it as my
daily but here more recently have only driven maybe 300 miles in the past 3 years. It's time to let someone else
own it that will be able to enjoy it! It has been heavily modified, well know, been on vendor websites and can be
seen on youtube. It stickered at 59K new and came optioned with HID Headlights, Front Big Brake Upgrade with cross
drilled rotors, supercharger, Saleen exterior package, interior package, extractor hood and wing. I have around 25K
- 30K invested in modificaitons on top of the vehicle cost. I did not buy 2nd hand parts, all were purchased
direct from the vendors with no expense spared.
Brenspeed B302 Short Block $5,500

ARP Head Studs $450
Ford Racing 60lb Injectors
Cometic Head Gaskets $300
SCT Programmer $300
Diablo Sport Mafia $200
302 Badges
302 Floor Mats
Battery Relocation to Trunk
Rear Saleen wheels replaced from the 9" to 10" wide
Cheater Bags
Steeda Underdrive pulleys
Comp springs
GT500 throttle body
GT500 Oil Pickup and pump
Different Springs for different boost
Countless hours on the dyno between Dallas Mustang and HPP Racing
NT05 tires all on all 4 corners.
The car has made over 700 rear wheel horsepower on pump gas, 18lbs of boost with Bosch 80lb injectors, and 76mm
precision turbo. The car had little low end power and significant turbo lag.
In the last 200 miles I have had some additional work done.
Morgan and Sons installed custom forged pistons and rings with slightly higher compression to bring it up from
8.2:1 to 9.0:1 to be more in line with the 2013 GT500 compression ratio. They also did a valve job
$3,200
When I got it back I used new Cometic gaskets and ARP studs again for another $750
I also replaced the Precision Journal Bearing turbo with a Precision 67mm Ball Bearing and the difference in how
fast the boost spools is significantly better.
$2,200

Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.

Ford wins second consecutive International Van of the Year award with Transit Connect

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

The redesigned 2014 Ford Transit Connect isn't even on sale yet, but it's already making its presence felt around the world. At a commercial vehicle expo in Russia, the Transit Connect was named the International Van of the Year.
Ford's small work van edged out the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter by just seven points to allow Ford to grab this honor for the second consecutive year, which it won last year with the Transit Custom. Not only does this make Ford the first to ever win the award in back-to-back years, but it's also the fifth time the automaker has won this award since 2003 (two with the Transit Connect, two with the fullsize Transit and once with the Transit Custom). Ford congratulates itself for the accomplishment in a press release posted below.
