This is an original 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 4 Door Hardtop. It has about 80000 miles on the odometer and I have no way of knowing if it is "actual" but judging by the condition of the interior I would say it is. This car was in storage for who knows how many years before it showed up at a scrap yard in Connecticut. That's where I found it. At least the guys there had the sense not to crush it and I ended up with it. I had to flush out the gas tank and replace the battery, fuel pump, spark plugs/wires, heater core, and some light bulbs. I was really impressed the first time I turned the key (with new gas and battery). It started right up and purred like a kitten. How awesome! My mistake was that I had some gas with ethanol in it and after a month or so it ate through some fuel lines and affected the carburetor. It runs but not as smooth as it did so I'm confident that the carb should be rebuilt (which it probably should have been anyway).

The worst part about the car is the rust, but even that is minimal. Both rear quarters are rusted out as are the dog legs in front of the rear tires. However, the rest of the car is really nice, including the frame. The pictures show surface rust on the frame but it is solid. The floors as well as the trunk are all solid. I even stood up in the trunk and it held me fine. The exhaust is a dual set-up and both tail pipes are rusted through but the rest is OK. (I would replace it if I were to keep it.)

The tires are old style bias-ply and are fine but really should be replaced by some nice new radials.

The engine is a 352 V8 with an Autolite 4bbl carb and it is in excellent shape. It drives and shifts fine but like I said the carb should be rebuilt. I have a rebuild kit in the trunk that goes with the car. Also the flex plate that engages with the starter has a chipped spot that you can hear when the starter is engaged but isn't a problem. I have a new flex plate in the trunk as well. The power steering makes it effortless to drive around. And the power brakes stop it on a dime. The front brake shoes show some wear so I also have some new shoes in the trunk.

The paint has worn through on the hood and roof and trunk and should be redone someday. It also has some minor random dents that can be taken care of when the new paint job is done. The bumpers are both bright and shiny and have no dents.

The interior is amazing. The seats and carpet and headliner are all great. The dash pad has some cracks. There is a very small separation on the drivers side of the seat bottom but it is barely noticeable. There are some stains on the carpet and likely can be shampooed out. It is equipped with a factory 8 track player and speakers all over the car. The AM radio is loud and clear. The clock does not work. All the lights on the dash work (including the very cool "COLD" light that comes on when you first start the car) as well as the wipers and exterior lights and heater.

It is currently registered and driven on the road. It currently is registered in my name. There is no title (too old) but there is a registration card (Vermont) that can be signed over to the new owner and I can provide a bill of sale as well.

I would keep this car but I really have too many projects going on and have very limited space for winter storage. This would make an excellent "entry level" car for an enthusiast on a budget. The great thing about it is that you can drive it while you restore it.

This is not a show car so don't expect perfection. However it is bone stock just like it was when it was new but with obvious wear of driving and sitting for the past 47 years. Would I drive this car across country? Probably not. Would I drive it to the next state? Absolutely.

I am selling this old gem at no reserve which is risky but I simply can't keep this car. I really hope there is someone out there who can give it the attention it needs. I may have forgotten something so don't hesitate to ask me a question. Thanks for looking and best wishes.

2015 Ford Mustang stars in bizarrely awesome '80s aerobics video

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

For reasons we can't comprehend, here's a music video starring the all-new, 2015 Ford Mustang and a number of dancers dressed and styled in the most stereotypically 1980s way possible. The dancers then take part in a male-versus-female dance off. Again, we've no idea why it exists.
It's weird, and for the second time in two weeks, we're sat at our computer wondering, "What are we watching?" That said, it does show the new Mustang from a number of angles, and it's one of the first car-related YouTube videos we've seen that's available in a 4K, ultra-high-def stream.
Take a look below, and let us know what you think in Comments.

2014 Saleen George Follmer Edition Mustang debuts at Lagun Seca

Sat, 17 Aug 2013

Saleen used the occasion of the race-fueled Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to announce its new Heritage Collection Lineup. The event was punctuated with the debut of the collection's first member, the 2014 Saleen George Follmer Edition Mustang.
Follmer's name will likely sound familiar to fans of American racing in the 1960s and '70s. The driver competed in Formula One with the Shadow team in 1973, ran the Indianapolis 500, was the Can-Am champion in 1972 and drove stock cars in NASCAR's Winston Cup as well. The multi-disciplined driver is now one of three -the other two being Mark Donohue and Swede Savage - with the honor of upcoming, limited edition Saleen-tuned vehicles..

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost 3-Cylinder: Autoblog Technology of the Year award finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

As the old saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement." But these days, many automakers are launching powerful, downsized engines that offer similar or better power output than their predecessors, all while offering improvements in fuel economy and emissions. These days, we're seeing automakers replacing eight-cylinder engines with turbocharged sixes, and the naturally aspirated six-cylinder motors are being phased out in favor of potent turbo fours. But Ford has gone even smaller, offering a three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with one single liter of displacement.
Sure, three-cylinder engines aren't anything new - they've been offered around the globe for ages. But Ford's EcoBoost 1.0L powerplant is perhaps the best application the Autoblog team has tested. Gone are the triple-cylinder complaints of yore - this engine doesn't sound anemic or buzzy, and there's healthy power output on tap. In fact, compared to the 1.6-liter inline-four that Ford also offers in the Fiesta, the 1.0-liter is more powerful, while boasting an impressive 45 miles per gallon on the highway.
This engine has already received numerous accolades, including winning the International Engine of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 1.0L EcoBoost will be available in the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus here in the US.
