1965 Ford Fairlane 500 4.7l...less Than 37k Original Miles..3rd Owner...survivor on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:38924
Location:

Lexington, Kentucky, United States

Lexington, Kentucky, United States

The car was purchased new in Springfield KY and spent over 40 years being immaculately cared for by the original owner. Unfortunately at the time of her passing the car was parked outside and abandoned for several years where the cosmetic problems began to develop. The problems with this car are completely cosmetic, mechanically it is in incredible working condition. We have replaced the gas tank, 4 tires, exhaust, complete tune up (including hoses and filters), clutch return spring, trunk rubber and will include additional rubber for the doors. The drums have also been inspected by our mechanic and are in excellent working order. The car runs, drives, stops, steers, shifts and does all that it should; the horn and blinkers are even in order. As mentioned in condition the rear panels are going to need a patch and the trunk does show rust though the metal is still solid. Again, both of these problems are issues of neglect. The frame on the car IS SOLID and shows no signs of collision. The car has less than 40K original miles as this is also stated on the current title which is clear. This car could be a daily driver currently and holds great potential for a complete restoration. It is located just outside Lexington, KY and we STRONGLY recommend inspecting/driving the car in person if at all possible. Please e-mail to make arrangements and please inspect the vehicle prior to bidding. We are more than happy to answer any questions so please do not hesitate to ask. Please also keep in mind the car is 49 years old, we have described its condition as accurately as possible commiserate with our ability. In the event of a winning bid, Cash in person or certified check must be received no later than 7 days after the end of auction. We welcome pick up of the car or will work with a shipper of your choosing to the best of our ability. Thank you very much for viewing and again, please do not hesitate to contact.

PS The motor is black because my father rattle can painted the motor with an appropriate high heat paint. IF you would like a 70 year old white male uncomfortable with retirement my father will also be included with the car.

Enterprise working with renter's insurance to cover $47k Mustang stolen from its lot

Sat, 11 Jan 2014

There was more than a bit of public indigence following the recent story of Enterprise Rent-A-Car billing a customer $47,000 to replace a Ford Mustang GT Convertible stolen from a Nova Scotia lot. To recap: Kristen Cockerill rented the Mustang for two days, returned it to the lot on a Sunday and left the keys in a secure dropbox only for Enterprise employees to find the car gone the next day.
Despite Enterprise policies stating that customers are responsible for vehicles dropped on off-days, the company has admitted that the situation could've been handled a bit better.
In a recent statement, Enterprise has backed off the big-bill story, and claims to be working with Cockerill and her insurance company to resolve the issue. Further, the Enterprise general manager overseeing Nova Scotia has spoken with the harried renter, and apologized "for the way this claim was handled during the last few months."

Daimler consulting with Ford about 3-cylinder engines

Mon, 27 May 2013

Soon enough, Ford will offer its 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine under the hood of the Fiesta here in the United States, building on the success of the small powerplant overseas. In fact, this success has caused other automakers to take notice, and according to Automotive News Europe, Daimler is now talking to Ford about this engine for use in its own products.
In other markets, Ford offers the 1.0-liter mill under the hood of the Focus (we had the chance to sample this package on our home turf), as well as the B-Max MPV. For this new collaboration, Daimler would use the turbo-three in the next-generation Smart ForTwo, as well as the Renault Twingo, which the German automaker will be collaborating on as part of its alliance with Renault-Nissan. Speaking to AN, a Mercedes-Benz engineer called the 1.0-liter mill an "interesting and impressive engine."
In exchange for details about the EcoBoost inline-three, Daimler will supply Ford with information regarding its Euro6 stratified lean-burn gasoline engine, which is found in the new E-Class sedan.

Focus ST diesel variant coming, just don't look for it here

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

A few years back, Volkswagen made some waves when it announced the Golf GTD - a diesel-powered car that, aside from its ultra-efficient, ultra-torquey engine, was identical to the gas-powered GTI. That meant cosseting sport seats, larger wheels, sportier suspension, larger brakes and a body kit that made the GTD indistinguishable from the GTI, except for the three little letters on the back and in the grille.
Now, Ford is looking to replicate VW's success, with a diesel version of the Focus ST. According to Motor Trend, the diesel-powered ST will use a 2.0-liter, 182-horsepower four-cylinder. With an unspecified amount of torque on offer (we'd guess around 280 pound-feet), the diesel hot hatch should hit 62 miles per hour in about eight seconds.
The report, which originally comes from Auto Express, claims the ST Diesel was confirmed by Ford Chief Marketing Officer Mark Fields during this week's Geneva Motor Show. Not surprisingly, it doesn't appear there are any plans to bring a diesel-powered Focus of any kind to the US, let alone one that uses the suspension, steering and other items from the ST. Of course, if there's an official confirmation from Ford, we'll be sure to report on it.
