This truck was purchased brand new in Grandbury, Texas on May 16, 1968. It belonged to the same owner for 39 years and never left Fort Worth, Texas until I bought it. The man's grandson inherited the truck in 2007 and it was sold to a friend of mine in 2013 for a debt payment. You will see the original owners manual comes with the truck as does the remains of the build sheet. This truck is 100% there minus the original tailgate. I bought this truck as a summer project for me and my daughter and she returns to college soon so we want to sell and move on. Check my vehicle sales feedback. I tell it honest and just like it is.

The bad; Paint is obviously 46 years old. The carpet needs to be replaced and the AC doesn't blow cold. two tears in the drivers side of the seat. One crack in the dash pad right in the middle.  Section under battery has rusted out. Previous owner covered with an old license plate. Exhaust, Dual glass packs, is missing a hanger on the right rear. Horn button no longer works but all parts are there.

The good: All electrical works, all lights work including the optional cargo light with the illuminated reminder switch. The cigarette lighter even works. The self cancelling turn signals work as well as does the fan/AC blower motor. Truck starts every time, drives straight and has zero rattles. Brakes are new so they are solid. All original trim is in place. Front ranger emblem was in glove box. This truck has two little spots of rust in the front fenders but it has none in the floor pan, body, rockers or cab (see pics). Bed is in amazing shape for a 1968 truck. My suspicion is that prior to 2007 it was kept under cover. I can't be sure but the spare tire might even be original. It is a standard ply tire that still has air in it. This truck is a factory AC truck. This was the first year that Ford installed AC from the factory. Everything is there and the compressor kicks on when you turn the AC on. You can tell it's factory because the factory climate control levers control AC. Heat blows hot since new heater core and valve installed. The VIN says that the truck was solid white but the build sheet shows that it was ordered with the "3073 Gold paint" in the specified areas.

recent fixes: New heater core, new heater hoses, new heat control valve, all new wheel cylinders (brakes), new rear drums, new front bearings, new tires (less than 10 miles), Carburetor rebuilt but needs final adjusting.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Finding trucks this original with the original history are very rare.

Ford profits soar as problems mount

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Ford is doing well. It can't make enough examples of its new Fusion, it can barely make enough of the aging F-150, it's getting good brand rankings, people like its turnaround story, it's selling oodles of product and its quarterly profit numbers end in the word "billion." As other high-flying examples have demonstrated over the past few years, though, big numbers can come with problems that aren't exactly small.
Automotive News has published a good "nutshell" report of Ford's progress and problems. The Dearborn automaker's optimistic "general label rule" determination of gas mileage for the C-Max Hybrid has led to lawsuits, hybrid software updates, a downward revision of C-Max fuel economy and millions in rebates. AN notes the C-Max was the "worst-scoring model in this year's J.D. Power Initial Quality Study," but Ford will probably be happy that it managed not to be mentioned further in the study's results after last year's mediocre showing. Its MyTouch and SYNC systems, the bugbears sabotaging Ford's J.D. Power results, have also led to lawsuits, software updates, more software updates and a center console rethink. On top of that, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the 2013 Ford Escape that Ford called a "hero" was soon catching fire for three different reasons. And let's not even get into the troubled launch of the Lincoln MKZ.
The Automotive News piece notes that industry observers have been surprised at Ford's stumbles because everything has been looking so good. Nevertheless, there is still the issue of those billions in profits - the company is doing plenty of things, plural, right. Ford says it is tackling its problems, hiring engineers and instituting new quality control processes as part of its effort to find solutions. The test will be to see if in a year from now we begin the discussion of these issues with "Remember when Ford...", or "Problems continue at The Blue Oval."

Ford readying 2015 F-150 drift truck for SEMA

Sun, 19 Oct 2014

Between the Mustangs you'd find in Formula D and the Fiestas in the Global and World rallycross championships, there's no shortage of Ford drift cars on the scene. But at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Blue Oval automaker intends to show off a different kind of drift machine.
Created in collaboration with driftmeister Vaughn Gittin, Jr., this custom F-150 has been designed for "on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping." It's got a suspension with components from Kibbetech King and Air Lift Performance to give it 12 inches of travel and comes packed with 5 Recaro seats. Other details remain limited, but if the rendering above is anything to go by, it ought to be pretty awesome.
Alongside the Gittin truck, Ford will also be showcasing another F-150 designed together with freestyle motorcross rider Brian Deegan, packing the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a long list of enhancements. Between these two trucks, Ford hopes to extend its winning streak for the Hottest Truck award that it's taken four years running now. Feel free to read more in the press release below.

1969 Ford Talladega GPT Special is a SEMA showstopper

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Rad Rides by Troy has unleashed upon the SEMA crowds this custom 1969 Ford Torino Talladega GT Special, and it's a beauty. The car calls to mind the classic Holman Moody stock cars that circled NASCAR tracks in the late 1960's, driven by the likes of Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and David Pearson, who won the Grand National title in both 1968 and '69 in a Ford Torino.
Even though it has plenty of stock-car influence, there's nothing retro about the car's design or powertrain, other than the fact that the engine is based on a Ford Boss 429 block. Fuel injection, aftermarket aluminum heads and a high-tech custom computer system combine to send 750 reliable ponies to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Brakes measure 14-inches all around, with six-piston Wilwood calipers up front and four-piston units out back.
There's custom bodywork abound, painted in a two-tone Tennessee Whiskey Gold and Daytona Sand finish. Check out all the amazing details in the image gallery below, and scroll down to read all about it in designer Troy Trepanier's own words.
