Jonesborough, Tennessee, United States

The vehicle ran when stored on 11/27/2013, however it will not now start. Therefore I am not able to provide any information on the condition of the engine and the 5 speed transmission. The winning bidder should come ready to have this vehicle towed/hauled from the storage lot.

This vehicle is in poor condition both inside and out. The body has damage to the left front bumper and fender. The luggage rack is broken. There are other dings and scratches. It also has rust, paint flaking and paint fade. The interior is dirty, the headliner is loose and the driver door handle (inside) is missing. It appears the power windows and power mirrors are inoperable. Mileage is what is stated on the odometer. I took it to be 104,194 instead of just 4,194, but I can not guarantee it's accuracy.

Equipment includes: AC, JVC AM/FM CD Player, Tilt Steering, Power Remote Mirrors, Power Door Locks, Power Windows and Cruise Control.

Engine, drive train and equipment are in unknown condition.

Please view all photos carefully before bidding.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype sells for $7M

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Seven-figure Ferraris are not horribly rare. Heck, an eight-figure Ferrari isn't a rare occurrence. Between modern masterpieces like the Enzo and more classic offerings, cracking the million-dollar mark isn't a particularly tall order for the cars from Maranello. For a Ford, though, it's a big deal.
Now, this is not just some rare Mustang. This is a GT40, the car that Henry Ford II commissioned to whip Enzo Ferrari around a track in France. As far as the Le Mans-winning racers go, they don't get much rarer than this one. Sold at the Mecum Auctions in Houston, this is one of the prototypes, meaning it's one of the very first GT40s ever built. That makes its $7 million winning a bid, a record for on-air coverage of the auction, a pretty darn impressive figure.
You can watch the auction below, but first, take a look back at our original story on this rare Blue Oval.

2014 Ford Mustang GT

Fri, 17 May 2013

I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.

FBI investigating recently fired Ford engineer for espionage

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Agents of the FBI are investigating a potential case of industrial espionage involving a recently fired Ford employee. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer had its world headquarters searched by FBI agents on July 11, and according to The Detroit News, had warrants to seize recording devices handed over to Ford by Sharon Leach, a now-former Ford engineer.
Leach, who had spent 17 years with the Blue Oval, was fired last month, after Ford Security relieved her of eight Sansa listening devices. The FBI got involved shortly after her dismissal, searching her home on June 20 and seizing some two dozen items, including computers, jump drives and financial records, according to warrants obtained by The News.
Ford has remained quiet on the matter, with spokeswoman Susan Krusel confirming that the automaker was working with the FBI as part of a "joint investigation," while declining to provide any additional details.
