This van is awesome. I fell in love with it two years ago because it has so much character and I wanted to take it across the country. However, it's not good on gas and I was never able to afford the trip. I have used the van a few times for shorter trips and tailgaiting, and it is a crowd-pleaser and attention grabber to say the least.
The van starts right up and I have never had a problem where it didn't.
It idles high, and it coasts at 30mph without even touching the gas pedal. I'm not sure if this is bad for the van or not, but it doesn't seem to affect anything in the engine at all. It doesn't overheat, even in traffic on a hot summer day.
It most likely needs new tires. They aren't the best in wet conditions and the momentum of the van doesn't help the situation either. I got used to it and I don't even notice it anymore, but I would definitely recommend new tires.
All of the interior motors work, including the front two power windows and the motor that turns the couch into a bed. The other windows slide open only on the bottom.
The AC has not worked since I've owned the van. I never looked into it so it might just need to be charged.
The interior is in beautiful condition, give or take some normal wear for a 21 year old van. But the original owner never took the plastic protector off the back carpet and neither did I, so it's in great condition.
There are two gas tanks, but there is a leak in the top of the back tank. I just dealt with it by only filling the back tank up half-way and I never had a problem.
***Currently, there is a problem with the brakes. I had them done completely for $1000 two years ago, but a day ago they started acting up. I'm pretty sure it just needs brake fluid, but I will absolutely figure out for sure before I sell the van to anyone. I just don't want to put anymore money into the van unless I am sure I am selling it.***
The van has passed emissions for me whenever needed without any problems.
This van is a ton of fun to drive, sit in, and look at. I'm sad to see it go but I know it's for the best.
Come check it out!
Notable features: overhead lights above every seat, runner lights on back wall and on steps, a small tv with a VCR (the tv turns on but the VCR ate my tape), small cooler built into floor, two super-comfy velvety-fabric bucket seats, a couch that converts into a bed with a motorized button, duel-purpose shades on all large windows (one that is opaque and allows light through, and one that is a solid privacy shade), police radar-detector (I'm not even sure if it's legal, it just came with the van when I bought it), generous trunk space with a hanger holder, complimentary cigarette-lighter vacuum

Has the 2015 Ford Mustang gained hundreds of pounds?
Sun, 01 Jun 2014Automakers face competing interests when it comes to developing a new generation of vehicle. On the one hand, companies want to build their cars to be safer and better handling, with more equipment and maybe even larger dimensions over the model it's replacing. On the other hand, they strive to keep weight down to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. Usually something has to give, and in the case of the new 2015 Ford Mustang, those efforts may have resulted in a weight penalty of two or three hundred pounds.
This according to Blue Oval modifier Steeda Autosports, which states that "the 2015 Mustang ended up gaining 200-300 pounds in this remake". Despite the Mustang not being on the market yet, it would appear the leading Ford aftermarketer has been given early access to the 2015 model to help jumpstart its tuning efforts (a rather common development among trusted tuners). If Steeda's assertion is accurate, that would make the challenge of getting the new pony car up to speed for both Ford and aftermarket customizers like Steeda that much greater.
We're waiting for official word from Ford on the veracity of Steeda's claim, but if true, it's bound to be a bit of disappointing news for legions of Blue Oval performance enthusiasts. Watch this space for more.
Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list
Tue, 09 Jul 2013The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
