Beautiful 1969 Chrysler Newport Convertible on 2040-cars
Chico, California, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Chrysler
Drive Type: Rear Wheel Drive
Model: Newport
Mileage: 39,900
Trim: 2 Door Convertible
Fabulous 1969 Chrysler Newport Convertible with a factory H-Code high performance 4-bb big block engine. This beauty has only 39,900 original miles! With her brand new Magna Flow Turbo mufflers, she purrs like a kitten. That is, until you press down on the gas and those 4 barrels open up, then she has the wonderful, throaty growl that only a big block mopar engine can make! She is very well optioned with this 330 HP/425 ft lbs powerplant featuring a dual snorkel air cleaner, dual exhaust, air conditioning, am/fm 8 track, power disc brakes, and factory cruise control. This powerful engine is backed up by a smooth shifting HD 727 Torqueflight transmission that feeds a bomb-proof 8 3/4 "489" rear axle with 3.23 gears. She has new shocks, (4) new Firestone radial tires, new fuel tank and sending unit, new waterpump, new starter, new 100amp alternator, viscous fan package, new cigar lighter, and the two new Magna Flow mufflers. When I bought her about 5 years ago, I had been researching '69 Road Runners, Super Bees etc. that also had the exact HP 383, torqueflight tranny, and the 8 3/4 rear end and they cost an averaged 40,000.00. So when I found this beauty for only 11,700.00 I snapped her up in a heartbeat! However, due to financial difficulties at this time, and declining health, I have to let her go. This low mileage Chrysler convertible has been meticulously taken care of, always garaged and covered, yet driven and enjoyed as well. During a recent drive to the redwoods over on the coast of northern California a rock chipped the windshield and resulted in a crack. I will be including a brand new replacement windshield in this auction. I'd like to get my money back which is around 13,500.00. However, I am listing this stunning car with a low starting bid of only 9999.00 and no reserve! 1969 was a great year for Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth cars, yet less than 2500 convertible Newports were made. Here's your chance to own a wonderful, high performance, big block drop top for only 10 grand. Good luck bidding, (and if you're the lucky winner,) enjoy driving this fantastic convertible this summer!

Fiat Chrysler quietly sends Pentastar logo out to pasture
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Logos come and go, and in the case of the famed Chrysler Pentastar, it's on its way back out. The well-known five-sided emblem, which sits prominently atop the massive Chrysler Technical Center complex in Auburn Hills, MI, is officially going to be phased out now that the company has united with Fiat and formed the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
As a nearly 50-year-old icon, though, the fate of the Pentastar has been deeply intertwined with Chrysler's history. Hemmings has an excellent recap of that history, from its development in 1962 by a Chrysler ad agency through to its temporary discontinuation during the disastrous marriage between the American company and Daimler-Benz, and then on to its revival during the time the automaker regained its independence.
If you've been a fan of Chrysler and its brands over the years, you're going to want to give this piece a read. Head over and take a look.
Chrysler stays IPO until 2014
Mon, 25 Nov 2013There will not be a Chrysler IPO in 2013. Fiat, according to a report from Forbes, has announced that it will not be able to make the American brand's initial public offering before the end of the year, saying that the short, five-week window that makes up the rest of 2013 is "not practicable."
Not surprisingly, the issue with the Chrysler IPO is the same as it's always been - a disagreement between parent company Fiat, which owns 58.5 percent of the Chrysler Group and a UAW healthcare trust, which owns 41.5 percent. Fiat wants to buy out the UAW VEBA healthcare trust, which is responsible for shouldering retiree healthcare costs, but the two sides are hung up on an actual price tag for the remaining two-fifths of the company.
The original idea saw an IPO as a way of setting a fair market price for the remaining shares, although it's not entirely clear what broke down and led to a delay of the IPO plan. As Forbes points out, by waiting until 2014, Chrysler could be risking a cool-off in the IPO market, which could mean less money in its pocket when the automaker finally goes public.
Chrysler 200 replacement coming in January
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Autoweek reports the next Chrysler 200 will bow early next year. CEO Sergio Marchionne has said the 2015 model will debut next January, and Chrysler plans to cut the 2014 200 model year short to make way for the model's successor. According to AW, internal documents reveal 2014 model production will start this July and run through early January, 2014. The memos don't specify whether its Dodge Avenger twin will also see a shortened model year (the latter was originally rumored for discontinuation, but a successor is apparently back on the table). Chrysler is investing some $1 billion to construct paint and body facilities at its Sterling Heights, Michigan plant for the next-generation 200.
From what we've heard so far, we can expect the 2015 200 to bring a new design language to the Chrysler brand that will eventually bleed into the automaker's other products. Early reports have also suggested the four door will boast a nine-speed automatic transmission and return up to 38 miles per gallon.
Chrysler executed a very successful facelift in 2011, turning the flailing Sebring into the newly minted 200. Buyers responded enthusiastically, with sales jumping 44 percent in 2012. That step up was enough to make the 200 the brand's best-selling car. The momentum hasn't slackened, either, with sales up 21 percent during the first two months of this year.
