 The car started out as a special order by the owner of the Chrysler dealership in Berwick, PA. The car was purchased for his wife (I got this information from the son of the original owner who I was able to track down from information in the owners manual). The odometer shows 40k but as it is only a 5 digit odometer true mileage is unknown but my guess is 140k. The person from whom we bought the car did not know much of it's history but he did live about 15 miles from Berwick so I doubt it has traveled much. We bought the car in October 2012 with 11k on the clock. If you do the math you will see we have put almost 29k miles on the car in the last 18 months. The car runs GREAT and rides great. My 14 year old daughter fights for the back seat because she says it's like riding the sofa down road. The car starts easily and has plenty of power (it does have the 440, after all). The original wheels were replaced with rally wheels that were painted to match the body. The following items have been replaced in the past 18 months:

Spark Plugs (and other tune-up items)

Tires

Rear Shocks & Rear helper springs

Alternator, Water Pump and related  Belts and Hoses

New windshield wiper bushings.

The power sunroof operates as it should. The drivers window does get stuck going down (a little push and moves fine); it works fine going up (weird, huh?) The "Lean Burn" system was removed before we bought the car and while it will come with the original air cleaner it now has an Edelbrock air cleaner. The fender skirts are solid although there are some minor rust places expected in a car 37 years old.

After we had first bought the car, as we were preparing for a trip to Ga, (it has also been to Northern New Jersey, Virginia, Kentucky and all points in between) I took to the car to my mechanic. When he was putting the car on the lift he said "I hear from a lot of people the 'I just bought this car and it's in really good shape.' all the time but This car is in really good shape!" I think the fact that we have put so many miles on it attests to that. Since the pictures were taken we have lost the small hub cap from the right front wheel (on a West Virginia paved cow path) and the trim ring from the left rear wheel. Replacements are available I just never got around to buying them.

Items not working: The reset for the trip meter. The A/C does not blow cold; I have been told the expansion valve needs to be replaced. There is an expansion valve in the truck as well as an R-12 to R-134 conversion kit. I just enjoy having the sunroof and windows open so I have not had it fixed. The cruise does not work but it did when I bought the car. The diaphragm in the Cruise has a hole. From what I was able to determine the same cruise unit was used until 1984 so there should be replacements available. The same is true for the parking brake release. The parking brake is supposed to release as soon as put the car in drive. It did when we bought it but that no longer works either. I could hear the vacuum coming from it so it too has a leak in the diaphragm. I removed the vacuum hose to stop the hissing. You can still release the brake by foot. The passenger side power seat does not work but the drivers seat works in all directions.  

The only reason we are selling is due to a change in circumstances which requires something a little more fuel efficient. Our original intention was not to use this as a daily driver (which it has become) but as fun weekend ride. We would much rather see the car go to someone who can give the attention it richly deserves.

Chrysler Uconnect gets dealer-activated navigation, new infotainment features

Get in just about any mid-level Chrysler product these days, and you'll see a touchscreen head unit that would be perfect for a navigation system. The only thing is that some of these cars equipped with the head unit for Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system were not optioned up with navigation at the time of purchase, leaving drivers looking for turn-by-turn directions relying on either an aftermarket nav system or a smartphone. Starting on select new Chrysler products, however, customers with Uconnect will now be able to upgrade to navigation as a dealer-activated option.
Announced at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, this new element of Uconnect will allow owners to have an in-dash navigation system installed quickly and easily; Chrysler said that this will be a major benefit for used-car buyers. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like this system will be retroactive on previous Uconnect head units, but it will launch this year on the 2013 Ram 1500, 2013 SRT Viper and the 2014 Fiat 500L. Chrysler did not announce the expected MSRP to have dealers activate the navigation capabilities.
Another infotainment option for Chrysler buyers is the Uconnect Access system that can allow WiFi, voice text messaging, emergency assistance, remote vehicle operation (such as starting the engine or locking/unlocking the doors) and limited POI searches using Bing. Also introduced at CES, the new Uconnect Access via Mobile system builds on this by allowing users to add in-car apps such as iHeart Radio, Pandora and Slacker by connecting to the system via a smartphone. This system will first be offered on the 2013 Ram and Viper.

Is Chrysler's 'America's Import' campaign outdated or offensive? [w/poll]

Chrysler launched its America's Import campaign with a splashy ad during the Super Bowl starring Bob Dylan and featuring a whole bunch of patriotic imagery that included Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, factory employees and, of course, the city of Detroit. Since then, the brand has followed the original spot with even more ads using the same tagline. Not everyone is pleased, it seems, including The Detroit Free Press auto critic Mark Phelan, who's fed up with the marketing. In an editorial for the newspaper, Phelan claims that it's insulting to the US auto industry and its workers.
"The phrase 'America's import,' with its suggestion that 'import' equals 'better,' feels terribly dated, a relic of the 1980s. It's the rhetorical equivalent of hanging a pastel-hued 'Miami Vice' poster on your office wall," writes Phelan in the piece. Also, since some of the brand's cars are made in Canada, the line isn't even entirely true, he claims. Phelan goes on to praise the company's earlier Imported from Detroit commercials for getting the right message across and showing pride in the city.
While "America's Import" might be the tagline for Chrysler's ads, it's not the whole message. Subsequent ads keep the hard-working, patriotic imagery from the original Super Bowl spot but put a bigger emphasis on the Chrysler 200 that the commercials are meant to sell.

Chrysler and Fiat offering $1,000 rebates to VW owners as Marchionne gets tough

The throw-down between Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne and Volkswagen has heated up in earnest. According to Bloomberg, Fiat and Chrysler are now offering current Volkswagen owners in the US $1,000 rebates to trade in their ride. It's the latest in a series of shots Marchionne has taken at his German rival. As you may recall, the Fiat executive entered into a spat with Volkwagen board chairman Ferdinand Piëch and CEO Martin Winterkorn in October after the duo called for Marchionne's resignation from presidency of the European Automotive Manufacturers Association (AECA). At the time, the Volkswagen executives were quoted as saying Fiat would not survive the European economic downturn.
In response, Marchionne called the German executives "reprehensible," and accused Volkswagen of using a pricing strategy that has created created a "bloodbath" in the EU. Volkswagen has taken to steep discounting to carve out ever-larger slices of market share in Europe, but the company has a much smaller foothold in the US. Marchionne may be trying to hit Volkswagen where the manufacturer is weakest with the new Fiat new incentive program.
Late last week, the Fiat executive was voted to a second term as ACEA president.
