WATCH THE VIDEO IN 720 HIGH DEF! WATCH TO THE END FOR A TEST DRIVE! If you're looking for the perfect truck to take you deep into the woods or to the business meeting, look no further than this '04 Silverado 2500HD LT. It's powered by the legendary 6.6l Duramax diesel engine. With big tires hooked to a bulletproof four wheel drive system, it can
get the job done both off road and on. There's even a big Warn(?) winch bumper that's ready for you to add some pulling power to the front or we'll be glad to remove it at no extra charge! The Z82 trailer towing package
will let you tow the biggest of campers or trailers without breaking a
sweat plus it has the Z85 suspension package to give you the ride stance
and ride while doing it. It has 3.73 gears and G80 limited slip differentials
front and rear so you can rest assured that it will get the job done as
well off road as it does on the highway. Best of all, it runs perfect
and has NO RUST. This truck basically has every option they could put on one from power seats to the auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass & thermometer, AM/FM Stereo CD, and even AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL. There's a driver information center in the dash that keeps up with everything from the oil changes to the fuel filer to the miles per gallon. The bed has a nice bedliner plus an expensive turnover ball setup. Don't let the 184,000 miles worry you...this truck runs great! It cranks right up hot or cold without smoking or making any weird noises. The engine has NO BLOWBY. We wouldn't hesitate to get in this truck and drive it ANYWHERE you might need to go. We've had our mechanic go over everything to make sure it's in proper working order. The four wheel drive engages just like it should. There are no warning or service lights lit on the dash. The tires have plenty of tread & the truck stops smoothly at any speed. There are no rips or tears in the seats nor are there any smoke or pet odors. Best of all, we got a great buy on this truck that was just recently traded-in at the local dealer on a new one. We're passing that buy along to you in the form of a LOW RESERVE AUCTION. Bid to win because the high bidder will own this truck even if the final price is THOUSANDS BELOW the book value of nearly $20,000!!! NADAguides.com Price Report
SILVERADO ROAD TEST After some serious thoughts and many calculations... Very few people will be excited to buy a hardcore pickup for work. Indeed, you don't purchase a big heavy-duty truck the same way you do with a Ford Explorer Sport Trac or a Honda Ridgeline, for instance...
Entrepreneurs and fleet owners, who order the majority of these pickup trucks, are mainly interested in the payload capacity, the towing capacity and the weight of the vehicle. The capacities indicate if the truck will struggle to fulfill the required duties and wear out prematurely, while the weight tells how much you will have to pay to register the vehicle. In the province of Quebec, the "truck" replaces the "pickup truck" when the weight exceeds 3,000 kilos; consequently, the registration fees are higher. In addition, with a truck, users will have to perform comprehensive inspections before hitting the road and subsequent check-ups on a regular basis. As for trucks that weigh over 4,500 kilos, it is mandatory for the owner to have a Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence. This becomes problematic for businesses, because the industry currently suffers from a lack of truck drivers.
With that in mind, when you're looking to buy a truck or pickup truck for work, like a Chevy 2500 HD, you want to get the strongest vehicle there is under 3,000 kilos. So, when it's time to step on the scale, GM's Sierra/Silverado duo is a smart choice. With winter approaching, many snowplowers, for example, will choose one of these two pickups to install their snowplow on, while using the bed for carrying the calcium spreader. For these reasons, most new owners will register their vehicle before installing any accessories on it. Let's not kid ourselves: in the weight department, there's always a way to cheat... all the more so when you know the folks who operate the scale. Moreover, you can fill up the tank and install the running boards only after the weigh-in. End of the run Our test model, a Silverado 2500 HD with diesel engine, is one of those vehicles that we purchase not with our hearts but with our brains. Who would want an end-of-the-run pickup truck that's being fully redesigned and soon released on the market (the 1500s will be available first)? Perhaps the people who will make long-term calculations and manage to get a sweet deal. Or perhaps those who need to refresh their fleet as soon as possible. Anyhow, a lot of them would be surprised by its accelerations and handling. The Duramax diesel engine is mated to an Allison 5-speed automatic transmission. Why buy an Allison gearbox? You have to try it to understand: the shifts are smoother, and the top gear allows the engine to rev at 1,550 rpm at a speed of 100 kph -- compared to 1,800 rpm with the old 6-speed manual transmission -- which results in a better fuel economy. Also, a switch mounted on the shifter allows the driver to perform gear changes with his fingertips, especially while towing on steep hills. Working together with the tow mode, the cruise control will even detect an acceleration during a descent and shift down in order to slow down the engine. As for the upgraded engine, it delivers more power (360 hp) as well as an impressive 650 lb-ft of torque. Paradoxically, this
engine creates less pollution in the form of NOx and noise emissions. It burns
fuel more efficiently while the reduced compression ratio mitigates the various
noises and vibrations. Now the fine print... We

GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern
Mon, 21 Jan 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs
Sun, 01 Dec 2013
The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.
Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
