2001 Chevrolet 2500HD 4X4 Regular Cab 6.0L V-8 Gas. 2 owner truck. Clean and clear Georgia "Title in Hand." 121,000 Miles. 95% tread on new Kumho tires. Recently serviced and a new fan clutch just installed by the GM dealer in Thomasville, Ga. I bought this truck from the state of Tennessee as a second vehicle to use in town to and from work as well as to pull a 5420 MFWD tractor from a timber farm to another timber farm that is outside of town, and just be an all purpose truck.. It has a Ramsey 9000lb winch that works great, it pulls fairly quickly to get you out of a bind. The cable on the winch was replaced before I bought the truck, so it is a fairly new braided steel line. The truck has the commerical package which includes a larger radiator, larger alternator, towing package w/a 7 pin connector, and 2 batteries. The second battery basically just runs the winch, yet both batteries are charged by the alternator. It has 4:10 gears with a tow/haul mode. 6.0L gas engine that runs great. I had it serviced recently and it has a little over 121,000 miles.

The Good: Good oil pressure, great power, transmission shifts tight, A/C will freeze you out, Ramsey winch works good in forward or reverse, spotlight works (I just pulled the fuse on it), Brush guard, HD commercial package, fleet scheduled maintenance most of it's life, retired due to age and miles by the state of Tennessee (they are on a scheduled fleet rotation program, they don't kill them and then sell them like Georgia tends to do, I do my homework before I spend my hard earned money), new tires, 265/75/16 Kumho A/T, recent service.

The part that makes it a used truck: I haven't cleaned it up for any pictures. If you want me to wax it and make it look pretty, then pay me to do it, because it is a truck, not a mercedes. Being that it is a truck, please expect scratches, dings, and use of the bed. They had a fuel tank in the back that scraped the bed between the cab front corner to the wheel arches..I've got the same kind of L-tank they used on this truck in my F-250, and the same thing is happening to my truck. It didn't scrape clear through the bed floor, let's not be dramatic, but the paint is worn away on 4 corners where it shifted around. Mechanically it is very good for age and miles. If you are asking me what the mpg is, you have no clue what you are looking at. It is a 2500 HD 3/4 ton 4x4 truck. It is a heavy duty truck.. 14mpg is probably a high guess. If you need mpg, buy a Eco-boost and blow the turbo's up trying to pull your lawnmower, or buy a diesel like me, and pay out the nose to self service it and fill it up with diesel and get 20 mpg.  I like this truck, and enjoy having it, but everything is for sale, so I'm testing the waters.

I'd say the only two things it needs are: 1)fuel sending unit- it goes from actual level to empty on gauge randomly. I set the Trip ODO and let it roll. Things like that don't bother me, if you can't handle the uncertainty of a fuel gauge, you may need nerve pills. I just put gas in it when I leave town each time I head out to the country. That's not so hard to do unless you are on a program that involves buying less than 5 bucks of gas at a time and 20 dollars worth of lottery tickets. Using my method, you'll find you can afford gas, and you'll be able to make more efficient use of your time. 2) U joints for the driveshaft. I heard it them squeaking two days ago, and this was news to me. It hadn't made that noise. It is a wear item and about $70 to fix it.  Again, not huge, I will probably have it fixed before auction end.

Don't be fooled. I keep up with maintenance, I'm meticulous. I put tires on it, had a dealer service it, clear it as being good, and put a fan clutch on it. To me, a truck is a tool, not a shiny marble. In order for it to be the best use and best value, it has got to be well maintained and never leave me stranded, that is not an option, so I keep my equipment maintained. The only thing I would fix presently would be the u-joints and not save up and try to repaint a 11 year old truck and spray in the bedliner.. I'm just that way. As-Is, No expressed warranty guaranteed or implied.

They don't make trucks like they used to. This was made before the GM got bought by your tax dollars and mine. Check your local tag laws and emissions. Do your homework, do me a favor and don't just buy it, then look it up, and crawfish around about it.  It will pass emissions, it has its catalytic converters etc.. it is all stock. We just don't have that around here, I don't live under a smog clouded city and never will.

Terms are cash or certified bank check, not a personal check. I do not finance, flip coins for 100 dollars off, or take a silver set from your wedding as a part in kind trade. Private seller with valuable time, please don't waste it. Ask smart questions if you have one. I don't help ship because I don't own a shipping company. U.S. buyers only. You will not get the title until the cash or certified bank check has cleared. Then you can have at it.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum

Fri, 02 May 2014

Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
