1968 Elcamino, SS 396, Turbo 400 Automatic transmission, power brakes, A/C, 12 bolt rear end, this is an unrestored, original car in need of a complete restoration, I have Title in hand. The original engine was removed and comes with auction as well as the original transmission, the car had a vinyl top and has rust where the top used to be, the quarter panels and outer wheel houses will need to be replaced, all chrome except lower fender chrome will come with car, the drivers fender is perfect and can easily be used, the passenger fender is rusty at the bottom but a replacement fender will come with auction, the floor behind the seat is rusted, and will need to be replaced, but the front floor is solid. The Engine was removed as it had a bolt come out of the carb, this bolt went down one cylinder and cracked the cylinder, normally this would be a ruined block, but due to it being original numbers matching engine, I would put a sleeve in it. the transmission is original also. the glass is all good with no cracks, the bed is very solid. it does have a 12 bolt rear end, not sure if it is a posi or not. Due to the engine and other parts being removed and not attached to car at this time. there will be no shipping on this item it will be pick up only, I will have tires full and rolling car with all parts in back of bed. the only parts missing on engine are the intake manifold and carb., and the pulleys. Winning bid requires payment of 1000.00 in 24 hrs. Please ask any questions before bidding. |

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.
