Up for bidding consideration is a 1966 Chevy El Camino that I have had in my garage for the past couple years pulling it out once in a while to drive. I don't have the room for it anymore so it is for sale! This car runs and drives down the road real well. The brakes stop you just fine. The 4 speed rock crusher trans shifts as it should and the 350 v8 sounds good with lots of power. The exhaust has a good roar to it. I am not sure if it is a "SS" or if someone prior has tried to clone it. The miles on the car are believed to be correct but it is 47 years old so I don't think the miles are a selling point. In no way am I calling this restored, it has flaws in the body that is usually associated with a vehicle of this age like the clear is peeling especially on the hood, there is some rust at the top of the windshield, doors, wheel lip etc... Not bad considering the year. The tires are up with plenty of tread but they are a little weather checked. Nothing to serious but just want to mention that so no one is expecting a show car. The paint must've been done in the over 20 years ago as there is a lot of flake in it. The frame is not rotted and is in good condition. The floor pans were replaced at some point. The interior will need some attention but that's not a biggie as there is a ton of parts out there for these or you can always update to a new style interior that you like. I do have a dash pad that I will include with this sale. Please look at all of the pictures and ask any questions prior to bidding. GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern
Mon, 21 Jan 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
Chevy confirms Corvette Stingray Convertible for Geneva
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Want proof that General Motors has increased global ambitions for its 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray? It's staging the world premiere of the model's convertible variant at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
As previously rumored, the droptop rendered above will debut at the Swiss show, making its first appearance anywhere on March 5. According to Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet, the location makes sense because Corvette "...is an icon that has long been recognized and admired even in countries where it's never officially been offered."
While neither Chevrolet nor the Corvette has a major sales presence in Switzerland, the Bowtie's European headquarters is located in Zurich (about three hours to the northeast of Geneva) and GM has made it clear that it wants to build the Chevrolet brand up across Europe.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
