2000 - Chevrolet Corvette on 2040-cars
Laguna Niguel, California, United States
Offering a pristine pampered 2000 C-5 Corvette Convertible with a 6 speed manual transmission loaded with all factory options including heads up display, tilt wheel, traction control, power seats/windows/locks, A/C cruise control and much more! The car has been owned by the current owner since 2002, always garaged and covered, hand washed and waxed with quality products. Car has only 61,700 documented original miles. Color is the sought after silver mist metallic with black interior. Aftermarket upgrades include an Alpine Sound System with the hidden Phantom Dash Face - AM/FM/CD and a 6 CD Changer in the trunk. Factory original radio included. The upgrade that really stands out factored into the price are the special ordered HRE Polished Aluminum Wheels (20" Rear - 19" Front) which are 1" larger than the original factory wheels. Wheels today would I believe would cost about 1600-1800 each to buy new. The wheels are mounted on Michelin Pilots that were standard on some of the late model ZR1 Corvette's. The car was lowered 1.5 inches in the rear with a kit from West Coast Corvette and 1/2 '' in the front. A short throw shifter was also installed. Other than these two items and the aftermarket upgrades above the car is factory stock. Maintained per factory standards this car runs strong and drives great! Must be seen in person to be appreciated!

Supercharged 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 takes the C7 beyond the ZR1
Mon, 13 Jan 2014
The Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
After a bright-yellow false start, here is the real thing: the fourth-generation, 2015 Corvette Z06. If Chevrolet makes a ZR1 version of the C7 Corvette, it's going to be absolutely mega, because the Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
