1968 Chevelle project car. Originally bought at Gates Chevrolet in South Bend Indiana. 54,700 original miles, has set since 1976. I bought it from the person who got it from the original owner and have had it for about 4 years. I started the restoration that the second owner was going to start but never did. My time has run out and with a weekends work this car can be up and running again. Starting life as a 300 Deluxe with 6 cylinder and a Powerglide, it now has a 1966 327 small block from a Nova mated up to the original power glide. Both have been gone thru and are in great condition and ready to go. As the car sits now, it needs the following to be up and running:

Drive shaft installed
Fuel lines run
Wiring harness installed
Radiator installed
Heater hoses installed
Transmission lines installed
Battery installed
Power sterring hooked up
Shifter linkage hooked up

The original interior is still in the car and looks great. Only needs a good cleaning. No rips or tears. Dash is perfect, Headliner in perfect. Door panels are perfect except for one spot on the drivers side that is easily fixable. Glass is very nice, windows roll up and down perfectly. Has the original AM radio and includes a Custom Audio AM/FM radio with 6" x 9" speakers that go with the car. The radio is made to fit in the current dash with no modifications.

The doors shut like you would expect of a 54,000 mile car - perfect. They sound like new.

The stainless trim is excellent. I have brand new bumpers to go with the car. The front grill is excellent as are the headlight bezels. New taillight bezels also go with the car. New wheel well molding trim is also included.

The trunk is one area I did get finished and looks like brand new. It was 100% solid to begin with and has the correct splatter paint along with a brand new trunk mat. The original spare and jack are still with the car.

The engine compartment is detailed nicely with the correct color paints. The radiator was gone through at a radiator shop. A new windshield wiper bottle is included. Windshield wipers work perfectly. New hood hinges and springs are included. The motor is a 1966 327 that has been rebuilt and puts out about 325 HP. I had HEI installed and the motor was run and tuned in on a motor stand at a local machine shop. I have the reciept for $1360 for that work. It ran great when I got the motor from a friend who took it out of his '66 Nova but had it gone through just to be sure before I installed it. I have ceramic coated headers that go with the car. The original powerglide was gone through by a transmission shop and is in perfect condition. The drive shaft is the original and has new U-joints. Rear end is original and in great shape. New brake lines and master cylinder.

Body wise the car is pretty solid. The rear quarters have been replaced as shown in the pictures. The passenger side fender was pretty rusty at the bottom and I found a replacement to put in it's place. The drivers side front fender lower area by the door had been patched but I have not messed with it as far as leaving it or replacing what was done. It doesn't look bad at all but I'm not sure as to how well it was done. The rockers are so-so. The could use a few areas fixed but overall not bad. I have the original hood and a new cowl induction hood that goes with the car. The rest of the car is very solid. The panel fit is great and as I said, the doors, hood and trunk shut like they are new. It is obvious that this is a 54,000 mile car that has set for a long time.

Frame wise it is also solid. There are no holes and never were. It had a crusty surface rust that I wire brushed off and coated with undercoating. At some point someone replaced the drivers side floor pan. I removed the gas tank and cleaned it up and replaced the sending unit. It was also noted that the car has never been wrecked. It is very straight. I replaced the rear shocks but it could probably use the front shocks replaced.

The tires have a few miles left on them and are mounted on rally rims with the original trim rigs and caps which are in fair condition.

New items that either go with or are on car now:
Fuel lines
Wiring harness
U-jionts
Wheel well trim
Trunk mat
Rear shocks
Heater hoses
Radiator hoses
Cowl hood
Tail light bezels
Front and Rear bumpers
Hood hinges and springs
Windshield wiper bottle
Gas tank sending unit
AM/FM stereo and speakers
Brakes, brake lines and master cylinder
Ceramic coated headers

I'm sure there is more but that is alI I can think of now. It is a great car that will take very little work to get it on the road again. Paint is the only major item left to do. A true survivor for sure!

The wiring harness that needs installed is only the engine compartment harness. The under dash harness and harness to the rear is all in place.

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.

Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.
