BODY:
Outer body is clean and straight and has only minor rust repair evidence at bottom of front fenders.  The floor pans and trunk pan appear to be original and in good condition. The car was originally silver (code 14) but received a full color change some time ago. With the exception of some minor touch ups and chips, it still presents very well for it's age. The current color code is a 1985 GM Red. SS Stripes were added as a dress up item along with SS Emblems front and rear. Bumpers are all original, and rear bumper has a small dent on the right side. Glass is all perfect. Tinted windshield is one week old. SS Grille is new.

Car has been upgraded with classic Rallye wheels. 15X7 in front with P195-65R15 tires and 15X8 in the rear with P275-60SR15 tires. Police style center caps and thin stainless trim rings add to the appeal.

Car is equipped with a working tachometer and oil pressure & temperature gauges. All lights and turn signals are working with the exception of the back up lights. The horn, heater, wipers, and AM/FM stereo and gas gauge all work fine.
DRIVELINE:
Engine and transmission were removed due to a leaky oil pan. and replaced after a complete clean up, detail and resealing of the engine. A new GM oil pan and gasket set and new rear main seal was installed. The timing cover seal and gaskets, valve cover gaskets were also replaced. The engine is a 1968 truck 350 4-bolt main unit. (see photo of the bottom end). The cast iron 4-barrel intake is topped with a Carter Performance series carburetor #9605S. Headers feed the exhaust to a dual glass pack system. New header gaskets and collector gaskets just installed. Engine is backed by a blow-proof bellhousing followed by a Borg Warner aluminum 4-Speed transmission # 1304065903 dated 5-29-1975. A new transmission rear seal was also just installed along with fresh tranny fluid. Power is transferred to a 12-Bolt Positraction rear believed to be a 3:73 Ratio. Car runs drives stops and steers with ease due to the power steering. A Hurst shifter handles the transfer from one gear to the next effortlessly. This car is FAST ! And fun to drive ! "Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

Sun, 26 Jan 2014

If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
