This is a 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. It is in very good condition for its age. It is mechanically sound and I drive it on the weekends in North Georgia as weather permits. To my knowledge I am the third owner and I bought the car from an estate in Alabama last year. This is a factory black Z28, with the original numbers matching 350 ci motor in it. It has options such as power brakes, power steering, A/C (needs charging), tilt steering and has the factory tach in the dash. I do have a clean title registered in my name in GA. The ONLY reason that this car is for sale is that I purchased an offshore fishing boat with the understanding that I would sell this car to pay for the boat. This car is a solid investment that will continue to appreciate as the years pass.

BODY:

The body is in very condition with all original body panels, trunk and floors. It did receive a paint job at sometime in the past. It has paint chips that have been touched up, and some dings here and there. It is not perfect but it is a great high end driver. It presents itself very well. This car has spent its life in the SouthEast and there is very limited rust. The only area of rust that I have found is in the trunk. There is a 4 inch by 4 inch area in the trunk that was filled years ago. The floors and frame are in great condition. The factory silver graphics are all in place and look good, the hood graphic around the hood bulge is slightly faded.

Interior:

The interior is in very good original condition. No rips or stains. AM/FM cassette radio with 2 knobs is still in the car and working fine. Brake lights, turn signals and wipers all work .The headliner is nice and the armrests on the doors are in good shape. The dash has a couple of small cracks, however, a custom dash cap will resolve this.

Engine:

The numbers matching engine and transmission are in perfect working order. It has 350 ci 4-barrel engine that is stock. I have replaced the carb with a Holley Quaderjet Replacement from Summit Racing. I have also upgraded the cooling system with a brand new oem replacement water pump, new aluminum radiator, new oem replacement transmission cooling lines, new oem fan shroud, and over flow bottle. While I was doing this I removed both inner front fender wells had them media blasted and painted. I have also dressed up the motor by added new matching valve covers and air cleaner from Summit Racing.

Misc:

The car also has a stainless Flowmaster exhaust which sounds very aggressive. The tires are top of the line BFG's that are virtually new with less than 1,000 miles on them. I had original wheels media blasted and painted, and bought original center caps to finish the look. I have not cut any corners on anything that I have done to the car. I also have a custom car cover that I purchased for the car that will go to the winning bidder.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I have many more pictures of the car and would be happy to take pictures of any specific area. The car is also for sale locally in Athens, GA and I reserve the right to end this auction for any reason at any time.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
