I am listing for auction a 1969 Camaro purchased by me in 1987.  I have the title in hand.  Vehicle is in great condition but it is by no means a show car.  I drive it on a regular basis.  Mileage is unknown but I can assure you it is a lot.  This is the first car I ever had as a teenager.  I drove it through high school and college.  It was stored at my parents home for a few years until I was able to build a garage for it.  When I found it, it was I believe the original color scheme of Olympic Gold with Black stripes and dark green interior.  It had working Air Conditioning, and automatic transmission.  It had 307 emblems on the fenders but the original engine had already been replaced with a 350.  It had passenger side door damage and needed minor body work.  We had it repaired and painted to match.  I put some kickers in the trunk and a kenwood radio in it and that is how I drove it from about 1987 until 1990 when my parents paid to get the engine rebuilt by Warren engines in Clinton, NC and have it painted with the color scheme of Silver with black stripes and we replaced the standard hood with an original gm cowl hood(which was much easier to find back in 1990).  We also replaced the dash pad.  We rebuilt the front end and did some other minor restoration type upgrades.  I believe we replaced the carpet and added the console gauges and power windows at that time also.  I drove it to college some, where a drunk driver hit it on the driver's side and slid all the way down the side so financed by her insurance company the full rear quarter and rear bumper was replaced and it was painted by the same shop that painted it before.  Then at my first teaching job in 1995 it was t-boned in the passenger side door sitting in the parking lot at school so at that time the complete passenger side quarter and door was replaced and it was painted again.  Since then it has gone through periods of storage at my parents house and my garage.  Since 2005 I have driven it a few times a month.  I recently had the front springs, pitman arm, idler arm, and bearings replaced as well as a brake job done.  It currently has the 350 in it that was built in 1990 and runs well.  The auto transmission has a shift kit and if you get on it good it will bark the tires when it hits second gear but it could use rebuilding.  The AC needs charging.  I recently changed plugs and flushed radiator.  I had planned to change the fuel gauge in the dash with a tach but never did.  The fuel gauge in the console works but the one in the dash is not connected.  The other gauges in the console work also.  It could use paint but it looks fine and gets plenty of great comments as is.  The interior needs some minor attention also.  I do not want to sell it but some financial issues are forcing me to see if there is any interest out there.  I am adding a few pics now but will add several more detailed pics later.  Local pick up only.

GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."
