This ad features a stunning 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, with all the right features; 427 big block V-8, 4 speed transmission, posi- traction rear-end and cowl induction hood all encased in black, it just doesn’t get any more musclecar then this!  This car is extremely clean rust wise, mechanically dependable and strong running and a real show stopper ready to cruise as is. The car has not been heavily modified and essentially stock structurally so it is a great car to further detail to a more factory appearance, or it is a great candidate to further modify into a real street terror.

Mechanically this car needs nothing so if you are not much of a mechanic you are all set, and the paint and body are fantastic. As you read through the write up you will see most everything has either been rebuilt or replaced. This is a great driver and ready to go with plenty of oppurtunity for you to add your own details to make it your own. This car is so striking it collects lots of attention whether it's cruising down the street or parked.

Finish -- Grade A-: Black paint is a recent clear coat base coat paint job. The shine/luster is very good and looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.  It has not been fully detailed, but a show level detail and wax is all this paint really needs.

Body -- Grade A-:  The body is nearly all original with only some light restoration, when new rear quarter panels were installed at one time. Features a factory steel cowl induction hood, and front and rear factory spoilers. The body work was done professionally and it looks great, and lets face it black paint does not lie, and this car looks sharp.  The trunk floor is very clean and all original. The rear wheel wells and floor pans are also clean rust free factory original.  The body panels line up perfect and the car features fresh weather-stripping

I have been driving the car daily without issue, I would put my oldest daughter behind the wheel, without fear of the dependability, but maybe not my youngest daughter…..she has a heavy foot, but that is another story.

Engine Grade A: Engine is clean with a recent overhaul by Heighes Performance here in Traverse City. 427 big Block is period correct and estimated to produce 500 Horsepower with a roller camshaft and roller rockers. It features a brand new polished Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake with a brand new Holley 750 Double Pumper and the jetting has been recalibrated to match the engine and exhaust modifications. Installation is clean and professional with a clean performance appearance. Engine is equipped with brand new Chevrolet Performance valve covers and open air element air cleaner. The motor has a nice performance idle, but smooths out off idle and has excellent street manners, but pulls hard under acceleration, no black smoke, and carburetor responds better then fuel injection. Plenty of power on hand for a little stop light racing. Engine features a new alternator, battery, radiator hoses, belts and fresh tune-up with cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Car also features a 4 core factory style radiator with 4 bladed fan. Oil pressure holds a steady 60 lbs of pressure when warm, and engine stays consistent at 170-180 degrees even in stop and go traffic on summer days. Very dependable driver that makes great power but mild street manners for daily driving, my wife has driven the car and loves everything but the attention the car draws when she drives it!

Summary:

This car is a great looking car that just really needs nothing more then a little detailing, perfect car to tinker with and polish on and  maybe add the little touches to make it yours. It is a very nice car to drive with smooth acceleration and cruises great on the highway with 1400RPM at 55MPH and an estimated top speed of 145MPH. The idle through the chambered mufflers makes it a hit at the cruise in or at the stop light and it pulls a heck of a hole shot. The suspension and brakes work as designed and the driving experience of the car is comfortable for local cruising or for a long drive. (I have driven the car over 4 hours one way, and daily on a 45 minute commute) Operation is very reliable and without issue and the engine pulls hard off idle up to 6000 rpm. It is a lot of fun to run through the gears. The car as is would make a great reliable, daily driver that would be a blast to drive everyday to work on nice days. You could fly into Traverse City, pick up and drive this car anywhere home without issue. It is really a fun car to drive with its throaty exhaust and excellent power range.

This really car needs nothing replaced and is road ready for cruising. Mechanically it has been totally gone through and all maintenance items (battery, alternator, brakes, fluids, radiator, etc) have been checked out, are new or replaced! You can drive this car literally anywhere without issue. So if doing a full restoration or building a bad news street terror is outside your skills level but your looking a for a great musclecar this the car for you. When you consider the full restoration numbers matching cars run $45K plus and most of the cars below $15K,….well let’s just say are still in need of a lots of work. This car is very well priced and a steal at $33,000.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
