You don't find them like this anymore. An unmolested barn find, matching numbers original car.Needs to be restored.Floor pan rusted, underneath hood rusted, around trunk lid rusted, and a few others, not bad.Body is straight, hasn't been wrecked. Chrome bumpers are good, not rusted. Has been repainted blue, was pea green, ugh.327 v8. It runs but needs a valve job. dad rebuilt the 2 barrel carburetor, new plugs, wires, fuel pump and a few others so he could drive it around to work on it, but he passed right after that. The exhaust is rusted so it can't be run long and has been sitting for  a few years under a carport and cover. The car is complete, everything is there that I can see.Clear title, and keys in hand. Buyer responsible for pickup or shipping, which mat have to be a private carrier due to the car not being able to be started all the time and moved. Please give her a good home, I hate to sell it, but we need to buy my dads property with the sale of this car.Proper paper work will be sent with title for transfer purpose, this estate is still under probate.I have the right to end this auction early and cancel any bids, due to the fact that this car is listed for sale locally. Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013 17:03:00 EST

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013 12:57:00 EST

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors

Mon, 04 Feb 2013 13:30:00 EST

As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize.
