Up for bid is this BIG TOY!

1997 K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel

RARE MANUAL 5 SPEED NOT AN AUTOMATIC! Shifts great also shift on the fly 4WD Shifter on the floor. You can put this in 4WD LOW AND in 2ND Gear and it will crawl up GIANT HILLS like it was nothing.

I had a new bed put on with a 5th wheel ball in bed and professionally sprayed rhino liner in bed. Sprayed underneath the truck with rubberized liner for waterproofing(frame).

I had a cowl induction hood installed for better air flow.

I had a Cold Air Intake system installed.

The fuel pump driver relocation kit was added as its and all 1997 Chevy diesel FPD were placed close to engine at factory which caused a over heating issue.

I had a new chrome grill with new tented headlights. I also have 2 new fog lights that haven't been installed yet.

I've bought 2 new custom tail lights and a new chrome bumper (Bumper has not been installed yet but ready to go with all hardware, bolts and license plate lights.

I had a new Flowmaster muffler added with new pipes to get that rumble sound but its hard to hear over the diesel engine.

New front and rear shocks.

Engine has been well maintained and taken care of.

The engine sounds great and there is no blow-by coming from the valve cover when oil cap is removed(very good for these trucks)

I had the factory stereo put back in w/ CD player.

The air condition works.

I had the power mirrors replaced and they both work perfect.

The door handles have been replaced as well as the window controls on passenger's side.

None of the windows are cracked and I had new window shades put on all the windows.

I had a low profile stereo antenna  installed.

I bought 2 new Dually fenders to go with the new bed.

The 2 front fenders have been replaced.

All new Chrome wheel hub caps for all 4 tires.

Tires are 80 to 90 % good.

I had the entire truck painted.

The only thing that I didn't redo was the interior which I started on but I have lost interest and ready to move on. The seats are in good condition as well as the head liner. The floor has some normal wear but all in all its good.

I was going to put in all new interior with leather heated seats but I just lost interest

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
