1991 Chevrolet K1500 4x4 Short Box on 2040-cars
Roscoe, Illinois, United States
1991 Chevrolet K1500 4x4 Standard Cab, Short box Silverado Pickup. 116,036 miles. A/C blows cold, Heat works very well. All the dash controls and radio works
well. Engine, I think, was rebuilt and
carburetor and aluminum intake installed.
MSD Distributor and coil. Truck
starts right up, runs very good. I have
put about 2-thousand miles on it, and it has not burned any oil. Starts very well, runs good, no smoking. I have installed a new battery, a new alternator, new front
brakes (pads, calipers and rubber lines) and new ABS controls and modules. Everything works as it should. When I bought the truck, the dealer had
replaced the rear end with a unit from a Tahoe, with bigger rear brakes. The rear brakes worked TOO well, so I
installed an adjustable proportioning valve and cut the pressure to the rear
brakes. They now work as they should,
the truck stops really well. Once in a
while, when you start the truck, the ABS light comes on, but turns off within a
minute. Must be re-booting itself? Newer tires with lots of tread left. I have had those Road Force balanced, at
70-mph the truck drives down the road very smooth. Wheels some discoloration, need to be
polished. Interior shows some wear on the driver’s seat. Carpet is good; I put new rubber mats in
it. The left hinge is broken on the
glove box door, needs to re-glued.
Everything works inside, all the lights, radio, wipers, etc. Everything on the truck works as it should. Everything. Body shows no rust or bubbles, but I think it was re-painted
a while ago. Paint is very nice. Headlights and tail-lights need to be
polished and brought back to clear.
Frame is starting to show surface rust.
Under the bed, the cross braces have some rust thru. Dual exhaust is good, but not stock. I bought this truck Early July to use as a second truck, a
backup. I sold the Dodge Dually and
bought a newer Chevrolet, so I am going to sell this truck. I needed another truck for when the Dodge was
constantly in the shop! I have tinkered with this truck since I bought it, fixing
all the little things. It runs and
drives very nice. Everything works, even
the windshield washers. I would not be
afraid to drive this truck anyplace. Any questions, call Gary 815-389-9500 |

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]
Wed, 15 May 2013We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."
2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut
Sat, 16 Feb 2013Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.
