1983 Chevy Sierra C1500 Lifted on 2040-cars

Monroeton, Pennsylvania, United States

You are viewing a 1983 Chevy Sierra C1500 truck with a 4 speed transmission. It has a 6 inch suspension lift and 35 inch tires. I honestly don't know a lot about the truck. I have an apartment building and I took it in trade for rent that was owed to me. It's in fairly good condition for it's age. It has many new parts on it...tires, brakes, wheel cylinders, shocks and exhaust. I just had it PA inspected and it passed with no problems. There is some damage and a large dent on the rear of the passenger quarter panel. The rocker panel on the driver side has rust and the cab corner on the driver side has a small hole. All 3 of these issues are an easy fix for anyone with experience in body work. All the typical spots for rust/rot like the frame, underside of body and inner fenders are all in solid shape. This truck will be sold WITHOUT the engine, however it could be purchased with engine if discussed. The trans, clutch, truck, and everything will be intact. The only thing I will be keeping is the engine, which is a 425 hp 383 stroker with $3,800 worth of documented work done to it. It is currently in the truck and running...if you would like the engine included and we can come to an agreement, I would be willing to sell the truck with the engine included. There is only about 500 miles on this engine. I can assist with delivery if needed, within 100 miles, but you must make arrangements before the auction ends and the vehicle must be paid in full. This truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. I am willing to consider some full or partial trades but please...no garbage. Any questions...feel free to ask. Good luck and happy bidding!

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
