for sale is a 1957 chevy california 1/2 ton 3100 series pickup.this truck is totally original down to the paint.its got a 235 c.i. 6 cylinder with a three speed trans, the factory chalk marks are still on the firewall. it has 101,000 original miles ,never been tampered with and still retains all the original factory wiring, engine, trans, spare tire, interior, wood bed, california black plate, the wipers and dome light work still! this truck runs exceptionally well and doesnt smoke and has good power. the trans shifts nice and is tight, all the lights work, horn, emergency brake all work.the steering is tight also. it is a factory radio, heater delete truck.i have all the original hubcaps for the truck also. it is a original merced park, california parks truck. it has been taken very good care of, the bed has minimal dents and still has the original old growth wood in place. it does have a rear bumper that the parks system made up for it but i would buy a original or a repop rear bumper for it. the passenger side glass and a little bit of the winshield has delamination in the glass. it really is a time capsule. it still has some of the oil change stickers on the door jamb.it had 80,000 miles on it in 1978. i have not done a thing to change the originality of the truck. it does have some rust on the bottom of the doors and a hole where the original mirror was on the drivers door, not really that bad and a little on the cab corners and one spot in the door jamb thats easily fixed if you know how to metal patch. rockers are really nice, what you see is the original vehical untouched.it still has the original jack for the spare. please call me if you have any questions at 586-944-8615.if i dont sell i will fix the areas metioned but i will ask more for it, because this truck is really clean and drives good. it was well taken care of and mantained by the parks service motor pool. it has a clear title. i reserve the right to end the auction as the vehical is being sold locally also. vehical is sold in as is condition. it is a road worthy truck as it sits right now. thanks for looking

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Vote in our poll below, then feel free to leave a few lines in Comments.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild
Tue, 12 Feb 2013This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
