You are bidding on an all original  one owner 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Survivor Fleetside pickup Model # CE10934 equipped with its original Chevy 307 200 hp. 8 cylinder engine, manual transmission with manual overdrive. Many say "Survivor" however only few trucks really qualify. A survivor is one in which the vehicle is at least 95% original.

This C-10 spent all of its life in a dry garage in eastern washington. I acquired this vehicle after the original owner (from 1968 to 2013) passed away. He was an electrical engineer that took meticulous care of his possessions.  He primarily used the truck to go out on his 25 acres and get firewood and occasionally a road trip to seattle. He kept records of oil changes, and odometer mileage numbers throughout the years in a little book he kept in the glove box.(I still have) Looking through it I realized that most all of the  miles were from 68-86 where the odometer read 68,281. After his 1986 log-in, the next one said "lube oil +filter on sept 28, 02 with the mileage 70,120.  After this his health declined. He would start the truck every year and drive it very little according to neighbors. Apparently when he first bought the truck he took it to Seattle and out to Poulsbo, Wa. where he had property. In the glove box was the original 1968/69 ferry schedule. On the visor was a registration receipt folder clip-on with every receipt from every registration he got. Its still there. I have the original owners protection plan and vehicle warranty brochure with the metal tag with his name on it, as well as the original 1968 shop manual.  Also other memorabilia that was in the glove box.

Interior: It  has all the original interior. Original Seat, original side panels, original floor matt, original mirror, original visors, EVERYTHING on interior is original.

The radio/stereo plate on the dash is still blank with no radio ever installed. Same with the cigarette lighter spot. The dash has no cracks, all the gauges work , the ceiling is without a scratch, door panels almost perfect with a couple minor scratches is all, original rear view mirror showing a little age around the edge.

Exterior:  This truck is at least 95% original if not more*. From what I can tell the only thing he had done to the truck over the years was he had Midas put on a new muffler and pipe. The only wear on the truck is in the bed where he tossed the firewood. The original wood bed is still in and it has probably 50% of the original paint on the wood. No rot, just worn. A beautiful Patina actually. The outside mirrors are original  with only small blems, The bumpers - front and rear- appear to never have been even bumped and have their original paint. The rear bumper has never had a trailer hitch. License plate light works as do all others. The body is straight with the exception of two small dings, one on each side, hardly noticeable. Never been in an accident. The Paint on the body is all original! All the glass and lights are flawless.  The paint is in amazing shape. No touch ups have been done, just a wash and shine. The aluminum, chrome is in great shape with the exception of one area on the passenger side of front grills outer edge. The white area in the front and on the bumpers has some pits but not bad. Has original windshield wipers, gas cap, wheels, and hub caps. There is very little rust -mostly surface down low.  The underside is virtually rust free with the exception of a little bit underneath to the right of the door by wheel well. Nothing of any real concern. Again this was in a dry garage all its life.

*The wheels and hubcaps are original but look to have been painted or touched up. (I think)

Motor: Has the original 307 8 cyl.  engine with the original 2 barrel Rochester carb.  and original Rochester carb. Its a three on the tree with manual overdrive (pull/push knob in/out) Manual choke (pull/push knob in/out) . The only things I've done to this truck is I replaced the plugs and rebuilt the carb, replaced fuel lines and filters, changed the oils and flushed the radiator, turned the key and it purrs like a kitten. Drove it from Spokane to Priest Lake Idaho 180 miles RT and then From Spokane to Seattle (288 miles). Thats it. It ran perfect and doesn't leak oil. I've owned this truck for only a few months.  Seattle is where it is now stored. I'm selling it because I feel someone  who really appreciates the originality of this truck, or a collector, should own this beauty. I'm not a car guy, not a truck guy. But this is an amazing find. Its so rare to find a truck especially that is in this good of shape AND has not been compromised from its original state. I challenge you to try and find one and then you'll know what I'm talking about.

This truck emanates a real history of someone who simply used the truck as a truck, respected it, took good care of it, and thats it. We should be so simple.  Please if you want any other pics, or info please ask. I will do my best to answer clearly, honestly without any hidden agenda. I will be glad to assist in transport as well. Sold as is of course. I guess Im suppose to say that. $1000 Deposit within 24 hrs of end of auction and balance within 3 days.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
