Up for Auction we have my daughter's 1979 Chevy 2 wheel drive short wide bed pick up.  The body is surprisingly straight but it is a little dented around the gas door.  There is some rust in the floor pan but replacements are easily avaliable.  The truck has a tilt column and grant steering wheel.  The engine is 1969 250 6 cylinder that has hardened valve seats and was rebuilt approx. 40000 miles ago.  The engine itself is bone stock inside.  It has a polished offy valve cover 4 barrel intake manifold and 450 CFM Holley Carburator and a new electronic aftermarket distributor.  The transmission is a shift kitted turbo 350 with a locklar ratrod shifter that replaced the original stick shift.  It is a new starter new altinator new battery and aluminum radiator the tires are new with very little miles on them.  It has power steering and power disc brakes.  The hood is a all steel cowl inducted hood.  This is a very good truck and just needs to be finished,  Perfect candidate for a little bit bigger cam and a header also a lowering kit was next on our to do list.  But my daughter has decided that she needed a gas mileage car instead of a hotrod.  The car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed written or implied.  Buyers responsible for all shipping cost.  We will assist the shipper within reason,  Local pick up is fine and we can hold for a reasonable amount of time.  Winning bidder to pay a $500.00 non refundable deposit within 72 hours.  VIA paypal.  The Balance is due within 7 days.  Please ask all questions before bidding that way you will know if you want the truck or not before you bid.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding,

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
