Brand new monster Chevy 572 crate motor producing close to 700 HP that runs on pump gas (91 octane) mated to a freshly rebuilt TH400 / 2500 stall converter built to withstand the amazing torque of the 572. Reinforced brand new drive line, yolks, and Chevy 12 bolt rear end help put all of the new power to the ground! The motor has received extensive upgrades including Hooker long tube headers, with dual 3 inch side mount exhaust, Icon forged pistons, Hastings performance rings, Cam Motion custom grind cam, Holley 170 mech. Fuel pump, Victor Jr. intake, complete MSD ignition system, complete ARP studs and bolts, Federal Mogul Race rod bearing, Eagle rods, Cloyes true double rollers, Melling oil pump, March Performance serpentine belt conversion with beautiful billet pully�s and brackets, chrome 110 amp alternator, 4 core billet aluminum radiator w/ overflow, dual electronic fans, Holley 1050cfm dominator carb, the list goes on. The drive train is tight, responsive, brand new, and very fast! The truck was disassembled with the body off the frame, frame was sand blasted to remove all old paint and then recoated with satin POR 15 chassis paint. Brand new IFS suspension components (tie rods, ball joints, sway bar, bushings, shocks, pitman and idler arms, etc.) The truck has air ride on all four corners via an Accuair VU4 system, Porterbuilt bags, two Airmaxx 480 compressors and a chrome 10gal tank. New CPP tilt steering column, with new power steering pump and gear box. CPP performance master cylinder and high flow booster, with big brake proportioning valve to help stop the truck on a dime! The truck has been converted to front 13� disc brakes, and 13� drums in the rear with all new components. The truck drives and handles like a dream! The body of the truck was sand blasted, all metal fixed properly with minimal body filler, block sanded to perfection, then received three coats of 2k primer, a coat of white base primer sealer, three base coats of custom blended PPG red paint, and 3 coats of PPG high solids clear. After paint work, the truck was cut and buffed to perfection for a show quality shine. Additionally the truck has brand new front, rear, side, and vent glass, with brand new weather stripping, as well as new chrome bumpers front and rear with all new brackets and hardware. The truck was finished off with new Boss Motorsports 338 chrome wheels, staggered 20x8 fronts with 20x10 rears, and new Falken racing tires. All external parts are new (door handles, lights, bezels, grille,hardware, etc.) The interior is brand new and has the roof/ headliner, pillars, seats, kick panels, and door panels wrapped in high quality adobe colored ultra leather material with frenched red stitching that looks amazing! Chrome glove box and ash tray doors, color matched custom sewn three piece carpet, new chrome chevy sill plates, new Retro Sound radio, new painless wiring harness, new door handles, and new gauge cluster with factory tach. C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan
Mon, 11 Feb 2013Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."
Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors
Mon, 04 Feb 2013As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize. GM profits threatened by glut of pickups
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
