This car started life as a Plain Jane 6 cyl 3 in the tree, but has evolved into a beautiful rendition of the early muscle car. She is now sporting a 1964 QC code 409 W motor with dual quads (Edelbrock 500CFM), Muncie 4 speed with Hurst shifter, and 3.55 Posi. The engine has less than 10,000 miles on rebuild. It is bored .030 over with 11 - 1 pistons, hydraulic 460 cam, polished crank, heads rebuilt & surfaced, all new bearings, ARP rod bolt kit, HV oil pump, Muncie M21 trans was rebuilt and new clutch installed at rebuild. She keeps cool with a Be Cool aluminum radiator with both the standard cooling fan and an electric fan in front of radiator that is controlled by an adjustable temp switch. It is equipped with power disc brakes up front with drilled & slotted rotors, She has a rebuilt 2-piece drive shaft and runs 17" Boyd Coddington Junk Yard Dog 5spoke mags with new tires. The exhaust is a 2 1/2" Flowmaster with a nice deep throaty sound. She has a new USA 630Autosound stereo with MP3 & USB @ 240W and new dual voice coil speakers up front. New Autometer dome faced gauges in the dash with custom dash gauge adapters. The dash is all stock and not cut for any of the mods made to it. The interior is done in Black & Silver cloth and is in excellent condition. Lots of dress up on the motor with new Pro Comp billet ready to run distributor & coil with new 8MM wires. This car is ready to go where ever you want. It has blue dot tail lifgts. I have the original radio (not working), gauges, distributor (with Petronix ignition), and tail lights for the car. Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
