1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL WITH T-TOPS

We, at Finish Line Autos, specialize in the procurement and restoration of classic American muscle cars.

This nice 1987 Buick Grand National was owned by one of our clients and he asked us to sell it for him to finance the restoration of another vehicle.

The car runs and drives well and the interior is very clean, with the exception of the rear headliner that should be replaced and the steering wheel is showing some wear.

The car has the original window sticker, buyer's protection plan and bill of sale, along with a copy of the vehicle's MSO. Original Sticker price was $18,733 and the sale price was $18,295 (I guess they didn't give a big break on these cars)

In addition to the standard items, the car has the following, extra charge, options:

Power Windows
Power Door Locks
Power Driver's Seat
Electric Trunk Lock Release
Lighted Passenger Side Vanity Mirror
Cruise Control
Theft Deterrent System
Power Antenna
Concert Sound Speaker System
Protective Body Side Mouldings

The car has been sitting outside for a while and the paint should be redone. Quite a bit of the clear coat faded and resulted in the underlying color fading as well. The body is solid.

The air conditioning blows (but not cold, needs a charge) and the heat and defrost work fine.

The tires have decent tread but are starting to show signs of drying out.

I threw a transporter tag on this car last weekend and drove it on a trip of around 150 miles. It ran and drove fine.

I have a for sale sign on the car in front of my shop so I am reserving the right to end the auction early.

eBay Find of the Day: 1981 DeLorean with 570-hp twin-turbo Buick V6 [w/videos]

Mon, 23 Dec 2013

"Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?" So asked one Marty McFly of his mentor Dr. Emmett Brown, who replied: "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"
Doc Brown was right, of course: with an exotic mid-engine layout, gullwing doors and stainless steel body, the DeLorean DMC-12 sure looked the part. It just needed a little more juice. Well this one might not have 1.21 gigawatts of time-bending power - that'd be more than one and a half million horsepower - but it does have more than the 150 hp in the the standard 2.8-liter V6.
That's because this particular DeLorean has had its stock Peugeot Renault Volvo engine swapped out for a Buick-sourced, all-aluminum, 4.3-liter V6 from the Grand National. Dutteiller Performance didn't leave the engine in stock form, either: while they were swapping it out, they added a pair of turbochargers, new pistons, crank, cams and much, much more.

GM to offer 2 years free maintance on most 2014 models

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

A day after Ford announced it was scaling back the complimentary maintenance program for its Lincoln brand, General Motors has gone in the completely opposite direction, offering most of its 2014 lineup with free maintenance. Since 2011, Cadillac models have all come with a four-year/50,000-mile complimentary maintenance program, but Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles will now come standard with free maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles for the 2014 model year.
The program will give vehicle owners and lessees free oil changes, tire rotations and 27-point inspections following the recommended maintenance schedule laid out in each vehicle's owner's manual. We contacted GM to see which vehicles were eligible for the program, and a spokesperson got back to us with the following comment:
"All 2014 models are eligible, it's just that the included services vary by model, e.g., Spark EV would not need oil changes, Corvettes don't recommend tire rotations."

1969 Chevrolet Chevelle vs 1987 Buick GNX in Generation Gap showdown

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Generation Gap generally tries to adhere to a theme for each episode, and for the final video from the Lingenfelter collection, the series might have its best idea yet - limited-production muscle cars from General Motors.
On one side you get a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO, and it's an absolute sleeper. Other than the SS wheels, this classic coupe looks practically bone stock, at least until the engine fires up. Under the hood is a 427-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 making a claimed 425 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This was the sole year for the COPO package on the Chevelle, and Chevy only made about 323 of them.
The Chevelle's challenger is almost as rare and arguably just as cool. The 1987 Buick Grand National GNX looks just as mean today as when new. It eschews a traditional muscular V8 in favor of a 3.8-liter turbo V6 making a claimed 276 hp and 360 lb-ft, although that number is supposedly a bit underrated. Also, just 547 examples of the GNX version were ever built making it quite a collector's item too.
