1997 Bmw M3 Sedan 5 Speed Non-lux No Rust Gray/black on 2040-cars
Ames, Iowa, United States
Seling my late 97 M3 Sedan. Its loaded with all the options, Harmon Kardon Sound, 5 speed manual transmission, armrest, heated seats, 6 disc changer, side airbags, etc etc. Currently has 132k. I repainted the car Cyber Grey Metallic recently (I'd rate the paint job 8.5/10 - better than the original 14 year old paint, but not perfect) and spent around 100 hours prepping and painting it. All the door jambs, inside of the trunk, gas filler door have been painted to match. The only thing still arctic silver is the engine bay. I was planning on pulling the engine this winter and spraying it then. The car was involved in a minor accident on the front DS corner. All panels were replaced with OEM - it only needed the fender, hood and grill surround. The grill surround still needs a bit of adjustment. The title is clean. Black Leather interior.
This car has been my toy and hasn't been driven in the winter. Always garaged. No rust, I've only put on 24k miles since I bought it 9 years ago. Runs like a dream. I'm still in the process of getting all the trim back on after it was painted. Modifications and Features: ASA 17" Rims with 225/45/17 tires (seen in most of the pics) 6 puck clutchnet clutch disc and red pressure plate (very streetable, not much more aggressive feeling than stock) - Installed around 115k. Euro Headlights with 5k HIDs Clear corners all around FK adjustable coilover suspension (car can be raised up to stock height with these as well) great suspension, not too harsh but firm and great handling. New Door handle surrounds/gaskets New Battery Fall '13 New aluminum radiator and coolant system updated. AC freshly recharged New Clutch Slave Cylinder What the car needs at this point: 2 front bumper trim pieces sunroof gasket 2 vertical rear windshield trim pieces (old ones were cracked and removed when painting) Gas and temp gauge surrounds reglued (this is a quick job and I may tackle it if I have time) Pass Rear outer door handle doesn't work Headliner and glovebox door are starting to sag - very common on these. Airbag and ABS light need reset - likely a wheel speed sensor, though I haven't investigated it further Coolant level sensor is bad I believe - car has and maintains full coolant level, no errors when starting or driving but it pops a low coolant level error when shut down. Windshield washer nozzles need reinstalled. FM doesn't work on the OEM radio. Will need new tires in a couple thousand miles. Tear in the base of the drivers side seat. Recently it started throwing brake light failure warnings on the OBC - this is a very common issue with aftermarket euro taillights and is an easy fix - again I'll try to tackle this if I have a chance but work has been hectic lately. Brake lights still work as they should it just throws an error on the on board computer. Priced for a quick sale, it is a low mileage clean M3 sedan (only 4400 made in the US) without any rust and these are becoming more and more difficult to find in good condition. I'm a BMW enthusiast and have owned 5 different e36s over the past 12 years - this has been the one that I've kept the longest. Car is pictured with 2 door vader seats that have been sold. It will come with the powered, heated, OEM sport sedan M3 seats. I've done my absolute best to describe everything that the car needs - a majority of these things are low dollar items that just need some time spent on them. Unfortunately I started a new job a couple of years ago and haven't had the time to spend on it that I wish I could. Price reflects the items that it still needs to be brought back to perfect shape. Feel free to shoot me an email with any questions. Hopefully my perfect feedback score is a reflection of my integrity when selling things like this. Thanks and good luck! I'll try to update the listing with more interior pics shortly. The rear seat is non folding but does have the ski pass through. Side airbags were standard starting on the '98 model year in e36s - this is a late late '97 that has them but not the rear headrests. Car has never been tracked or autocrossed, the helmet pictured is for my motorcycle. |

BMW i Collection puts upscale treehugging in the palm of your hand
Sun, 22 Sep 2013If BMW's new i sub-brand sounds more like it belongs to consumer electronics than it does to automobiles, that's probably no mistake. After all, electric vehicles bridge the gap between conventional automobile and electronic gadget - just ask our compatriots over at Engadget that report on them all the time. But to drive the point home even greener, BMW has, together with the new i3, launched a new collection of electronics accessories that make the Bavarian automaker as much a competitor with companies like Belkin or Griffin as it is with Audi or Mercedes-Benz.
The new BMW i Collection includes items like a solar charger for phones and MP3 players, a laptop bag made from felt-like recycled PET plastic and vegetable-tanned leather, and of course the requisite USB dongle. Other items include keyfobs, a shopping bag, notebook and ballpoint pen.
All the items, of course, are designed to extend the i3's upscale tree-hugging image to items you can hold and use while your EV is charging in the driveway. They go on sale starting next month with prices ranging from 15 euros ($20) for the pen or lanyard to 99 euros ($135) for the shopping bag. Details in the press release below and images of the whole collection in the gallery above.
BMW V8-powered Ford Model A is the definition of Hot Rod
Thu, 20 Jun 2013Today, hotrodding has a pretty staid definition. Take one classic American car, add one classic American V8, sprinkle with tire smoke and you pretty much have every hot rod to roll out of a shop in the last 40 years. Mike Borroughs knows it wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, getting your bucket to go faster meant grabbing whatever parts were lazing about the yard, bolting them together with a bit of ingenuity and laughing your way down the quarter mile. It's in that spirit that Burroughs built his 1928 Ford Model A.
Rather than turn to the tired flathead or the common Chevrolet small block, Burroughs plucked a 4.0-liter V8 from a 1995 BMW 7 Series. With 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, the engine has no trouble shuffling the old A around town. He had to build a custom chassis to get everything to cooperate, but the result is a 1,500-pound heathen that looks built to harass dry lake beds. You can check it out in the video below. Be warned, the soundtrack by Hanni el Khatib may not be safe for work - awesomeness of this caliber rarely is.
Next BMW X6 to be larger, more aggressive
Tue, 16 Apr 2013If the current BMW X6, introduced in 2008, is looking a bit too bland for your tastes, have no fear as the next-generation model is reportedly going to be larger and more aggressive than its predecessor.
Autocar is reporting that an insider has revealed the all-new second-generation X6 will make its world debut at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, going on sale just after summer. More aggressive styling will help BMW distinguish its sportier X6 from BMW's more practical models, such as the X3 and X5, said the source.
The next X6 will again share platforms with the X5, but it will be stretched slightly to provide second-row passengers with more legroom. Powerplants will also likely mirror those of its mainstream cousin, including a range of turbocharged six- and eight-cylinder engines and a range-topping M model (the 2013 BMW X6 M is show above).
