Best Shop I Have Ever Been To!

I took my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Modern Automotive on recomendation from a good friend. The mechanics Brian and his son Colt were extreamly nice and had a more than resonable quote. I had a couple of exhaust leaks and needed a brake job and also transmission service. My car was finished before they said it would be and even came and picked me up from my house to drive me back to thier shop to get my car. tried to rip me off

I DO NOT recommend this mechanic or shop. The price quote I got for repairs was very high. The mechanic wanted to do work that was NOT needed, but told me was needed. I took my car to another shop which confirmed that all the work was not needed and the prices were inflated. But not before I was forced to pay for the estimate that was implied to be free and deal with a grumpy and bullish mechanic that didn`t like the... view more idea I was not suckered to pay him for the overpriced work. I suspected he knew I would find out that he had lied about what needed to be done. Thank god I didn`t give in and have him do the work, I saved more than $300 by going to another shop!

Worse mechanic I`ve ever used. Highest prices I`ve ever paid!

Brian E. Lane is just after your money. He doesn`t care about building a reputation for an honest mechanic in Kennewick, Washington. He will overcharge you, lie about hours worked, make up extra fees and basically rip you off every which way he can. He will spend 30 minutes on YOUR DIME looking for issues with your car that ""need"" to be fixed.

Don`t be fooled by his low hourly rate. It`s just bait to get your car into the shop. After you are invested with diagnostic fees, etc, he will surprise you with the jacked up quote. And parts prices will be 30% or more above retail. On top of that he RAISED the final price after the quote. Yes, I paid quite a bit more than his estimate. Since he DOES NOT provide written or printed estimates, you can`t challenge the new higher priced quotes. He will also say that the diagnostic is free if you get the work done, but then include it in the final cost anyways. If you want your car back, you have to pay up.

Did Brian E. Lane of Modern Automotive Repair sabotage other areas of my car hoping I would come back for more outrageously priced parts and repairs? I can`t go into details, but I suspect he did, but it is rather hard to prove.

Dishonest mechanics disgust me. A business that exploits your ignorance and circumstance for profit shouldn`t be in business. Avoid this mechanic like the plague. It would be better to buy a new car than go to this auto repair shop.
