Not sure what happened today, but the manager, Andrew, was extremely rude...in a nice tone of voice. He wouldn`t discuss my issue, and I felt like I was at a dealer mechanic. So, I called my old mechanic shop in CO that I haven`t talked with in two years. The guy there talked me through my issue. Andrew just gave me a price and said there wasn`t anything else to talk about. After several issues with a simple oi... view morel change and alignment...oil leak the day after, not balancing the tires when they did the alignment, problems with the lock-nut on the wheels...I would expect a shop manager to at least try to be helpful no mater who was at fault (like the staff was when he wasn`t there) instead of giving excuses. When I told him he was losing a customer, he literally said, "Sounds good. See you when you get here." Very nicely, of course. Wow. He was just as rude in person...very passive aggressive. I dropped a note to the North location (the original one, I think), and the manager called me right away very apologetic about poor customer service. He was GREAT, and said he strives for excellence at his location. I would LOVE to commit to a mechanic shop that lived up to the customer testimonials on the website. Maybe I`ll try the North location even though it`s out of the way.

I just moved to Austin from Vegas and needed to get my Land Rover inspected for registration. I did some research online and found Dave`s and it was just a few blocks away from my new apt (VERY convenient!). I went in expecting to find a dirty, old shop with lots of derelict cars in the front as had been my previous experience with shops in Vegas. To my pleasant surprise, the shop was very clean, organized and very w... view moreell lit. I told the guys that i needed the inspection done and they gave me an accurate wait time. I had a question about the window tint i had on the front windows (15%) and whether or not it would pass inspection (needs to be 35% or more light transmission). The tech came back after the inspection and everything passed except the front window tint. They also provided a free inspection and mentioned that my brake fluid was dirty as well as my engine oil and transmission fluid (i had them flushed at the LV LR dealer before the 1400 mile trip and expected it to be dirty). They also informed me that although i failed the inspection because of the tint, that they would provide a free re-test if i got the tint removed. I went home and removed the tint that weekend. I returned the next week and when i entered the store, i was greeted with my NAME! (they remembered me!) Anyway, they retested my truck and i passed with flying colors! I have to say that the staff is VERY friendly and knowledgeable! They do not specialize in Land Rover`s but know enough about them to service them well. I will be bringing my truck here for service from here on out.

I HIGHLY recommend Daves Ultimate Automotive. A great honest staff. It`s always nice to know that someone is trying to watch out for my money instead of take it. I love the free wireless while you wait and a shuttle service.They have helped me out SO much and I couldn`t thank them enough.

Time for a long overdue review. I recently moved to Austin from NYC. It was imperative that I owned two vehicles. My job requires that I drive quite a bit, so I gotta keep my truck in shape. One is expensive, two is crazy, so we purchased a used Jeep Liberty, and a used Dodge Dakota. Both are in great condition, but they are not brand new. I chose DUA because they already had great reviews. They (Dwayne) helped me choose one Jeep over another by way of a simple inspection that did not cost an arm and a leg. So when I finally did pick the right vehicles, I brought them to DUA to be checked out and bring everything up to spec. Patrick at Dave`s Ultimate Automotive has been nothing less than dutifully helpful. He has given me the best and worst case scenarios, helped me chose what to try and fix first based on my budget, and today he had no problem getting his hands dirty under the truck hood at no charge to me. Patrick always recognizes me, and it is always a positive experience talking to him, even if it is about something I wish I didn`t have to fix, or money I really don`t want to spend. They take care of business. I love it. My wife love`s it. I would recommend Patrick, Dwayne, and crew at Dave`s Ultimate Automotive on Howard Lane to anyone who needs to get some work done in a New York minute!!! -D

I was extremely excited to see a Dave`s Ultimate Automotive open in south Austin. I live south, but for years I`ve been making the trip up north to the original location. Why?
